Common Barn Farm - Rainow, Macclesfield, Cheshire.

This is a working sheep farm, situated about 1200 feet above sea level, with two self-catering cottages and five bed and breakfast rooms run by Rona and Geoff Cooper.
For Sat Nav uses the postcode is SK10 5XJ.
Rainow is about 3 miles from Macclesfield on the B5470 towards Whaley Bridge.

Bed and Breakfast
Prices range from £45 for single occupancy to £90 for a family room per night. All rooms have wireless broadband, ensuite bathrooms with power showers. TV and tea/coffee making facilities. One room has an en suite wet room suitable for disabled guests.
Breakfast is served between 8.30am and 9.00am but can be earlier by arrangement. There is a good choice of cereals and fresh fruit. Cooked breakfasts are ordered the night before by ticking what is required on individual printed sheets. The oat cakes are delicious.
There is also a lounge off the dining room available to residents to relax in.

Self-catering
Prices range from £175 for 3 nights to £275 for 7 nights. All fuel. power, bedlinen and towels are included in the prices.
There is a choice of two cottages from a barn conversion. Croft Cottage has 3 bedrooms and Meadow Cottage has 2 bedrooms. Both cottages have the bedrooms on the ground floor with the living accommodation upstairs. Both cottages have been tastefully decorated and furnished and the bathrooms benefit from under floor heating. Each has a TV with freeview channels and DVD player, wireless broadband is also available. Cots, high chairs and stairgates are available on request.

There is a small tea shop open daily for snacks which is very popular with passing walkers and cyclists as well as residents.

It is an ideal base for exploring the Peak District and Cheshire, such places as, Castleton and the Blue John Mines, stately homes like Chatsworth House and Bramhall Hall to name a few. There are plenty of restuarants in the area that serve home cooked food, including the newly refurbished Highwayman Pub. There is also, a range of activities on offer around the area, including, extensive footpath trails for keen walkers, fly fishing day permits for Errwood Reservoir, clay pigeon shooting at Wildboarclough, sailing and cycling. Free grazing is available for guest's horses which can be ridden on the 250 acre traffic free environment.

No pets or smolking.

I have stayed in Meadow Cottage a number of times and have always been made to feel very welcome. There is so much to do in the area for all ages and all weathers. I have visited a number of places Buxton, Chatsworth House, Little Moreton Hall, Gawsworth, Bramhall Hall, Goyt Valley, Castleton- the list is endless. I have also been to a number of eating places including the Highway Man which serves delicious food but you need to get there early as it is very popular with the locals. Meadow Cottage itself is an upside down cottage to take advantage of the rural views. There are two bedrooms downstairs with the underfloored heated bathroom. Upstairs there is an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining room. The cottage is very tastefully decorated with green leather sofa and chairs. The kitchen area ia well equiped with the usual appliances. On several occasions we have booked in for the cooked breakfast. These are cooked to order and only local fresh ingredients are used.

Highly recommended.
