When my friend and i saw this hotel we were lured by the design - see picture above and the fact that we are from Bristol (where the defunct concorde now resides). Our other halves deferred to our choice (OMG!) but were sceptical. We booked via Thomas Cook to go in Mid-Sept to avoid school holidays.
Before i talk about the hotel let me mention flights - they are late night flights we arrived at 4.30am Turkish time. By the time we got to the hotel and checked in it was about 5.30am. A quick look around the room, unpacking then down to look around the hotel, grounds and in for breakfast.
The hotel itself is beautiful. The shape is based on the concorde aircraft - basically a v-shape. The "nose" of the aircraft looks out over the main pool - see picture.
Details: The hotel has three pools, 2 outdoor and 1 indoor in the spa. There is a large pool as you can see in the picture and a smaller pool to the side of the main building. The smaller pool has 3 waterslides. We spent most of our time around the smaller pool as it was empty and quieter. The main pool is used for all of the daytime activities - including various games and aquarobics. There are all sorts of daytime activities all throughout the day to keep you busy. The team wander around the pool asking if you want to join in - but they are not pushy. We did join in the air rifle shooting, killer darts, french boules etc. There is evening entertainment every day including shows, singing dancing and comedy. All the shows are done in various languages in the outdoor arena. There is music in the bar as well. Talking of bars , there are many and all open late. The cigar lounge is situated inside, above the main bar. Beware! You have to pay for everything in the cigar lounge. There is a large choice of cigars and brandies, malt scotch etc.
Other evening entertainment includes BBQs, beach parties, fireworks etc etc. - i don't want to spoil it for you by giving it all away. There is a bowling alley in the hotel in the games room which includes pool tables and card tables (of course it has a bar too)
For football fans there is a large theatre-style room with a plasma which showed football and the Grand Prix. There is a nightclub in the hptel too - didn't bother with that though so cannot comment.
Food: One main buffet reataurant and 4 a la carte. The a la carte have to be booked via terminals in the reception area. Get there early or you will miss your chance. The queues start at about 9.30 for bookings! I recommend the Asian and seafood a la cartes - though all of the food in all of the restaurants is of a very high standard with loads of choice. NOTE: if you order wine by the bottle from the wine list in the Asian you will be charged for it.
Other: The staff from the Spa will come round the pool every day offering a free massage - have one, its well worth it. In fact i would recommend visiting the Spa - it is very reasonably priced.
Location: The hotel is situated just off the main road down Lara Beach. It is basically one road with loads of hotels and shopping malls. The main town is about 45 minutes away - we went on a couple of organised tours booked via the Thomas Cook rep. They were well worth the money - two full days. The shops are well stocked with designer labels - genuine "Turkish" Armani, Versace etc all very cheap. Bartering is the way of life so be prepared to argue!
BAD THING: The hotel has a policy of only allowing you to book a late room once you are there and you can only book it on your last day. You go to reception and ask, they tell you if they have one. The hotel is very popular in spite of the high price. There were no late rooms available when we stayed. Our cases were stored in a locked room behind reception. We were allowed to use the Spa facilities for free on the last day and evening to change and shower. However, our pick up was at about 4am (by which time all the bars were shut) so we ended up asleep in reception or playing cards. The guys at reception were on hand to get us drinks or food if we wanted it but we just wanted a bed!
Other than the above it was a fantastic holiday , the hotel, the staff everything was brilliant. I would recommed this hotel to anyone and will be going back.
