I've been there last January on a 5 day business trip to Paris. I arrived with my husband late in the afternoon, as we approached the hotel in our taxi we were amazed to find out that our hotel was in the middle of top attractions in Paris. We were also delighted when we opened the curtains and saw the glittering Tour Eiffel at night and the luminous shape of Arc de Triomphe from the window of our room. But that was the end of it.
Night 1 ----------- The room was near the ventilation system and the noise form the bathroom was unbearable. We called the reception about 11pm to ask for help; they ensured us that the noise will stop if we wait 30 minutes after we switch off the bathroom light. We explained that the light was off for an hour but they insisted. So we waited 30 minutes then called again, this time they said they will send some one to check. Midnight arrived and nobody came in. we called again because we were too tired, unable to sleep and more importantly we have to work at 9am in the morning. After several trials, the technician came at 1:30am to find out that the extractor cover was hiding a hole which is connected to the ventilation system so there was no device, no timing whatsoever. He concluded nothing could be done except putting a folded sheet against the hole, which he did. Of course this didn't reduce the noise. The technician simply agreed the noise was too high then left. We were too tired and astonished to do anything. I hardly slept at 4am.
Night 2 ------------- We finally moved to a new quieter room after we had to call to the reception several times and explain the problem of the previous night at every call. It was impossible to talk to someone directly at reception as they were all busy with new comers.
Departure -------------- On our departure we requested compensation for the first night but we got nothing. Instead we were been given business card and a promise that something will be done for us on our next visit.
Less than a month later I had to return to Paris on another business trip, I contacted the hotel to find out that the business card, our previous booking and the incident were all forgotten. Of course I went for another hotel and had more peaceful nights.
