Once a year i take a trip out of Weymouth on the Condor fast ferry to the channel islands.

Condor run one of the most advanced catamarans that there is, getting you and your car to Jersey in 3.5hours. From the start when you book your tickets you see how friendly the people that work there are. You are always given help for whatever you need.

*On Board
When you get onboard you are given a reserved seat number. This is where some of the only dificulties start. You have to look for your zone and then your seat number. On the Condor Express there seems to be a problem where the zones and the seat numbers dont match up. After you eventually find your seat you can be left sitting next to people that you dont know. It dosent really matter as you can get up and walk around the boat. The ferries have duty free shops, bar and cafe on board. One of the best things about the service is that you can but a botomless cup of tea for £1.80, making a big saving by the end of your voyage.

*Duty Free
One of the best things about condor is that they are the only ferry company still to offer Duty Free. This is because they travel to the Channel Islands that isn't in the EU. You can pick up some real bargains here as they are significantly lower priced than the UK high street. Of course you can do your duty free shopping in all the shops in the Channel Islands but they tend to be slightly more than the condor price in my experience.

*Prices
It costs £29.90 for a day trip to either Jersey or Guernsey from Weymouth. You can also travel from Poole but the ferry times arent as convenient.

*Timetables
You've got to be up early to travel out on the Weymouth ferry to the channel islands as it leaves at 7am. With the extra hour to check in you have to be there at 6am. This isn't always convenient for children as they can get very tired but they soon get excited when they see the ferry. It leaves Jersey again at 8pm and Guernsey an hour later.

I usually spend most of my time on the open deck of the ferry. From here you can take in some of the refreshing sea air. If the boat is in rough seas it is usally better here because the boat dosent rock about so much.

There is wheelchair access for disabled people and there is a play area for children. All in all its a good journey and I would recommend it as the way to get to the channel islands. The price can seem a little steep but its not that bad for what you get.
