The Confortel Fuengirola is a 4 star hotel situated on the sea front in Fuengirola. From the outside it appears a very modern and well kept building having only been opened in January 2005. As soon as our travel operator's coach pulled up outside the hotel to drop us off a very friendly porter was there with a trolley to take our case inside - this stood out as being good service as the other hotels that our coach had dropped off at (including other 4 star hotels) didn't receive any such greeting.
On entry into the reception area it is clear that this is a modern hotel. Decor is minimalistic and the colour scheme is natural, with lots of marble, wood and neutral colours ...
Advantages: Off the beaten track. Close to Portugal and Seville Disadvantages: English not widely spoken. Not much to do apart from sunbath

So having looked at the Catalogue we plumped for the Confortel, Islantilla. This being positioned in Andalucia, near the border with Portugal. The Catalogue was Thomson and we bought the package (parking, flights, transfers and hotel). I will only assess the hotel here though. Oh and by the way the catalogue quotes it as a 4-star hotel rather than a 2-star (as quoted in the title). I myself would say it sat somewhere between 3 and 4.
We arrived at the hotel on Sunday afternoon (04/06) after a two and a half hour flight and 2 hour coach journey from the Portugese airport, 'Faro' (would have been more like an hour but our coach had several stops to make). Our first time to Menorca was spent in the Confortel Anabel. We saw a few images in the brochure but didn't really know what to expect of where the hotel was in comparison to the resort, were there any bar/restaurants nearby etc. The bus from the airport drove a different way as the hotel is at the top of a hill it went the safe way roun along the top where it is already flat. There is another road opposite the hotel which is very steep, which goes down into the resort. We checked in and were shown our hotel room. Our room was rite at the back of the complex and was one of the most furthest away. The rooms were very bright and spacious. Nice clean beds and bathroom was cleaned everyday.
