I came across The Copthorne by accident, I just typed in Hotels in Birmingham in the search engine google, and eventually it led me to their website.
The first thing that hit me was the price, it was £49 for a Double room with a Queen bed.
After months ago of searching hotels all over the country, I was beginning to think of the UK as a big rip off. Now £49 isn't dirt cheap, but it was the best I could find without the hotel looking ... ...difference it made.
The Copthorne Hotel, was situated on Paradise Circus near to the Convention Centre.
It wasn't as ideally situated as the others wee have stayed in, but was still walking distance to the shops, bars.
There was a centre just outside the doors, which housed a few bars, whetherspoon, Mcdonalds, a newsagents were also there.
They were handy and cheaper than the hotel prices.

...weekend (July 2004) at the Copthorne Birmingham. The main reason is that, apart from it being a nice hotel, they offer you a three course meal together with a double room for 60 Pound. We booked the same offer (lastminute.com) for two nights last summer and were impressed with the service and the facilities in the hotel. In particular, we didn't expect that we would be dining in the Goldsmith's Restaurant for such a good price. I'd never had such ... ...made our weekend in the Copthorne into something like a short holiday. The only disadvantage I found with the hotel room was that it did not have air conditioning. At night it was so hot that we had to open the windows - which meant that we had to put up with the street noise. However, this will not be a problem this year because the weather at the moment is pretty grim and I am looking forward to relaxing in the jacuzzi whilst looking at the grey ...
