I recently stayed the night at this hotel, I normally stay in travelodges because you always know what your getting but I thought id give myself a change and stay somewhere abit more fancier. The hotel although quite new is very traditional in style. To the back of the hotel is a very large lake with ducks and a nice wooden patio overlooking it with plenty of seating. This is just off from the bar area so im sure in the summer months it is very relaxing and peaceful to sit out there and have a drink, however I was unable to do so as it was February and cold! One half of the hotel overlooks the lake and the other overlooks the car park and the many shops of Culverhouse Cross, so if possible recommend a lake view. Luckly we managed to get a lake view without asking.
Location ********** Although the hotel itself is very nice and peacful it is located just off the busy Culverhouse Cross
Roundabout. There are many many shops surrounding the hotel so no matter what time of the day the traffic is normally very bad. Some might think that having the shops there is an advantage but it think due to the high volumes of traffic its definately a disadvantage. However for those of you who wish to know what shops are there i will list some: -
PC World Tesco Marks and Spencer Currys Carpet Right Etc

I stayed in a standard room, it was a lovely warm room, plenty of space, a very large bathroom, a nice dressing area with and hairdryer and light for the mirror. Satelite TV showing a range of free channels plus recent movies at a price. Tea and coffee making facitlites. The room itself was very clean and tidy. It had a double bed and comfy armchair beside the bed.
My Experience **************** I thought the hotel was great very laid back and peaceful, I cannot fault the room we where given. Its just a shame of the location. I found myself being awoken many times during the night with load people returning from there night out so that was also a small bad point.
Prices ******* I paid £77.00 for a standard double room although prices range from £59.00 - £150.00 just for the standard. So I would recommend taking a look at the website for a better guide of what you require.
The Copthorne Hotel is part of the Millenium Hotels so to view the website you must first enter www.milleniumhotels.com and then select Copthorne Caerdydd.
