Ideally situated within Christchurch city so is handy for nearby restaurants and shops etc.

This is a huge hotel and is part of the Millenium Hotels group. This makes it quite impersonal but the staff are very professional and helpful.

The foyer is smart and reception efficient. You're given a hand with baggage. We stayed on two separate occasions. Rooms are spacious and adequate. Facilities include tv and access to internet, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, mini bar (costs) and on each floor is a laundry (great when you're travelling around).

Some rooms have views across the park and even though they are on the roadside, there is little noise. Some rooms have a less than appealing view over the back (carpark etc). If you're in a room overlooking the back on one of the higher floors you're likely to hear the large fans on the roof.

Beds are large (? Queen size) but is swathed in bedding. There is extra bedding(!) and pillows should you be in need. The beds have electric underblankets (it seems most places in NZ do) but this one is lumpy and prods you in the back which doesn't make for the most comfortable sleep. Rooms have two beds. Not much floor space. There is adequate storage for a short stay.

En suite is basic and easily gets steamed up. Complimentary shower cap and multi-purpose shower/hair shampoo. Bathrooms are a bit tired (baths need re-sealing) but the showers are quite powerful.

Restaurant overlooks the park and is smart and spacious. The breakfast is good with friendly staff and a good choice of cooked breakfast (didn't try), cereals, continental (pastries, breads, toast, preserves etc), fruit, choice of juices, fresh coffee and a selection of teas.

An uninspiring stay but served its purpose. I can't not recommend this hotel - there are far less attractive places to stay. Overall, ok for the odd night but don't expect it to add to your holiday experience.
