The hotel is located just steps away from the historic and scenic Singapore River. It is just a short walk along the river from the bars and restaurant of Clark Quay and Boat Quay. Recently refurbished, the whole hotel has a stylishmodern feel to it. Guest rooms are nice with stylish white duvets whilst still maintaining a homely feel. There are a couple of good restaurants in the hotel and bar that often has live entertainment. The hotel also has an outdoorswimming pool to help you relax after a long days site seeing.
Advantages: Good location, access to tube station, nice/well looked after hotel Disadvantages: Some of the staff/service is not up to scratch
...Getting There:

The Copthorne Tara Hotel is conveniently situated a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the Kensington High Street Tube station. This means that getting to and from the hotel is quick and convenient. The Kensington High Street Tube Station is part of both the District and Circle Lines, meaning that you can get to many major and convenient locations by jumping on the tube there (including Kings Cross and Victoria stations). Although this was probably bad luck, I do urge you to check that while staying at the Copthorne Tara, the district and circle lines are running as unfortunately during my stay they were under maintenance for 2 of the days. I recently stayed the night at this hotel, I normally stay in travelodges because you always know what your getting but I thought id give myself a change and stay somewhere abit more fancier. The hotel although quite new is very traditional in style. To the back of the hotel is a very large lake with ducks and a nice wooden patio overlooking it with plenty of seating. This is just off from the bar area so im sure in the summer months it is very relaxing and peaceful to sit out there and have a drink, however I was unable to do so as it was February and cold! One half of the hotel overlooks the lake and the other overlooks the car park and the many shops...

...Despite whatever you're heard about Singapore, your reaction will range from mildly to extremely surprised at the level of greenary, cleanliness and efficiency for this small city state.
First out from Changi Airport, you'll be hit by a blast of hot air and the bustle of a super efficient taxi queue, ready to whisk you off to any destination in Singapore for less than 20quid.
Almost everyone speaks English, although the standards may vary and accent definitely requires getting used to.
Public transport is relatively cheap, buses cost less than 50p and trains (MRT) costs less than 1quid. MRTs will get you almost EVERY where you need to go in Singapore, so grab a travelcard (like the Oystercard) and begin your journey. All signs are in English, so most should have no problems.
One thing you must try is the FOOD!! Food...

I have stayed in a few Singapore hotels, and generally the standard is extremely good, so I was surprised to be so disappointed with The Miramar. I chose it because I was on a stopover and got a cheap deal. As I have seen the sights of Sing before,... more
