Cyprus is an island in the southern mediterean, just off the Egyptian coast, being divided into touristy Greek Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus (which is mostly a military base). I went to Cyprus on a cycling holiday and it was an absolute nightmare to get the bikes, we waited 45 minutes after everyone else had left the new (but very barren and not very comfortable) arrival lounge. The bikes eventually appeared to fell off the plane, as we found later in the holiday that they arrived with various damage. Larnaca is the location of the main airport in Cyprus, located close to the party town of Ayia Napa but 90 minute slow bus ride away from the CoralBeachHotel and Resort, Paphos.
The country appears to be very dusty, sparse in population except for the large hotelresorts and the ubiquitous half built villa's that seem to be found ...

We stayed at the Ascos CoralbeachHotel ,Cyprus, in June 2009. The hotel, during the summer months is for adults only,which if your are on a relaxing holiday makes a big difference. Once you enter the hotel you can notice straight away that there are no children running around, its very peaceful. The hotel is around half an hour drive from the airport at Paphos. It is located on the coast and has a pathway down to a shingle beach which to be honest we did not use as it was a bit awkward to walk along. The shops, not many mind, and the bars are about a five minutes walk. If you want to go to the coral bay beach it would take you around 15 minutes to walk there at the most, and to drive there it would take around 1 minute. The beach does have the usual amenities like being pulled by a speed boat and pedalos.

We have just come back from staying for a week at the CoralBeachHotel in Cyprus. The hotel is just outside the small resort of Coral Bay and is about 10 km from Paphos and about a thirty minute drive from Paphos Airport. We stayed in the hotel in mid February which is a time which has some things to recommend it but not others!
We chose the hotel because it seemed to offer just that little bit more than other hotels in the area and in many ways it did although this was also reflected in the price! (We booked with Thomson and paid about £1600 for the package deal for me, my husband and our two small daughters When you first arrive at the hotel you can't help but notice the sheer size of it..
