Achelleion Palace of Empress Elizabeth of Austria

Advantages: Those fantastic views.
Disadvantages: Slippery when wet.

We visited the Achelleion Palace on Thursday 22 May as part of the Island Tour we had booked thru our Rep. If staying in or near Corfu Town you can get there by Public Bus, check at Blue Bus Station in Corfu Town for times. The day we visited it was pouring of rain so do not have any photos of gardens, and the trip around the Garden was brief, but even with limited Visability the views must be stunning, a reason to return. You enter the entrance hall to be faced with a fantastic Stair case, also a beautiful painted ceiling. The upper floors are private apartments so the Visit is of the Ground Floor only. CORFU AIRPORT NOT AS BAD AS WAS TOLD

Advantages: Close to most resorts as small island.
Disadvantages: Told very busy in season

We arrived at Corfu Airport on Monday 12th May at approx 15:45 local time. As usual some passengers ignored the instruction to stay in your seats with seat belt fastned until the plane has come to a stand and the engines have been switched off. Why these people think it will make their bags appear on the carousel any quicker is beyound me. On leaving the plane you are taken by bus to the arrivals door, quick and effeicent. ...the queueing and chaos of Corfu Airport. We were to be nicely Surprised, perhaps the early season, and we were going the other way on a bank holiday monday. Arrived on the coach, queued for about 5 mins before being taken to checkin desk. Checked in, you then have to queue again to have your cases Xrayed, again only a 5 min job. Aqualand Waterpark

Advantages: Great day out for all the family
Disadvantages: Lots of stairs to climb

Review of Aqualand Waterpark

Lord Complex, Agios Geordios, Corfu

Advantages: Beach, weather, food, people
Disadvantages: not much to do, waterhoppers

...St Georges - Agios Gordios St Georges was a nice town although very quite. The resort was good for older couples and those with families however not for anyone after a lively time. It has about 20 bars/restaurants and about 10 shops. A main course meal would cost about 20-25 euros for 2 people. They do tend to give you bread whilst you are waiting, this is not free and is placed on your bill so if you don't want it let them know and check your bill ...
...in the centre where you can get a 1 euro pitta as a snack. In the afternoons one of the bars played very recent films which was a good change if you were fed u of the pool/beach. There was also another bar that played Peter Kay, Lee Evans, Billy Connelly from about 7pm. There was a small bar/club that opened at about 11 but that was all the entertainment. Some of the restaurants did run a Greek night. I found the food very nice in most of the places. ...

Captain Theo's Barbecue Cruise

Advantages: Fabulous Day out for everybody
Disadvantages: it has to come to an end

Captain Theo and his two brothers Costas and Dimitris have been running this trip for over 25 years and have been constant award winners in their field. Myself, my husband and two children booked this up at our Welcome Meeting with Thomsons, it can also be booked through Airtours and Apollo Holidays. It cost us around £40-45 for the four of us which I thought was good value ...
