Going on holiday alone
Review of Corfu (Greece) by cinnamongirl123

Advantages: Many
Disadvantages: Single supplements

...a lot of reviews about Corfu but I just had to add my "tuppence worth" - as I love the place. I also hope my story of "going it along" will help others to pluck up the courage and go...... "You must be mad", some people said. Others said I was very brave, that they could never do it. Perhaps I was a little of both, with a touch of determination and desperation thrown in for good measure. What was this awful deed I had done? I had just announced ...
...made. I chose Corfu as my holiday destination and, although still very apprehensive of going on my own, I found myself looking forward to the fortnight away. The main disadvantage of going alone was the single room supplements, although I chose May as it isn't quite so expensive then. I would have paid more - and not have had as much fun - had I stayed at home and had sunbed sessions in order to obtain a good tan. There was also the added bonus of ... Read review

Kavos Review 2008
Review of Kavos, Corfu by hayleigh_18

Advantages: Everyone is one big happy party family.
Disadvantages: The smell from the rotten sewers.

I visited Kavos, Corfu on August 25th 2008, and stayed in the Ekati Apartments for one week. Kavos is a very small village and everything is based on one road also known as "one strip". Along the strip lie tons of bars and restaurants and a selection of clubs which ALL have PR's standing outside trying to grab you in. Every bar will have different drinks offers and because of the competition you can get beverages quite cheap! Food is reasonably ...
...around. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk from end of one of the strip to the other. The Ekati apartments are fairly reasonable, they have air-con (payable locally), a jacuzzi, a pool, and a 24 hour pool bar where food is served throughout the day. The bathroom is TINY, the floor gets soaked because of the size of the TEENY walk-in shower, and the drains STINK (as they do EVERYWHERE in Kavos) but you learn to live with it. I visited a small ... Sidari not as attractive as the rest of Corfu
Review of Sidari, Corfu by LADYFUCHSIA

Advantages: Busy
Disadvantages: Too touristy

I visited Sidari on 2 seperate holidays to Corfu and both times found it to be extremely busy and not as attractive as other parts of the island. Sidari was very much for the tourists, like Blackpool for England. I think its maybe a good resort if you have children with you and need plenty of activity, but I wouldnt recommend it for people looking for a relaxing break. We stayed at Roda which had a much quieter and cleaner beach. The Sidari beach ... Read review

Review of Kassiopi, Corfu by leicesterlovely

Advantages: A lovely peaceful friendly place
Disadvantages: Pebble beaches

My family first went to kassiopi 30 years ago and fell in love with the place i first went 20 yrs ago when i was 6 years old it was wonderful i loved it so much i returned for 3 more holidays and then when i turned 10 my family still returned i had to stay home due to school commitments. Every year id look at photos and long to go and see if my memory of the place was still the same then 10 years later and i was 20 i returned to kassiopi with my ...
...a little not to much nightlife, there are lovely places to eat im a fuzzy eater but the food is to die for, and the people are just so friendly once u see them once you become there family and they never forget when i returned after 10 years people still knew who i was a great place to get away from it all. People have said i couldn't just return to the same place everytime so this year i took a friend who had that opinion and she got to see for ... Read review

Roda - perfect relaxing break
Review of Roda, Corfu by LADYFUCHSIA

Advantages: Beautiful resort - great people
Disadvantages: Very Quiet

Roda, Corfu is an excellent holiday if you are looking for a relaxing trip with great weather, lovely food and friendly locals. This is the perfect holiday for couples or older tourists. The scenery is beautiful, very green and plenty of olive groves. The beach was peaceful on both of our visits - but this was September. The beach was pebbles and I prefer sand, but the water was shallow and crystal clear. We stayed in the same block of apartments ...
...remembered our names, and some of the shop owners also remembered. This is maybe because I am exceptionally white and Scottish and they maybe see more English tourists? But I think they just take a real interest and appreciate folk coming back. The food is brilliant especially the greek salads with feta and olives. The beef was very tasty and there was also plenty of bars offering full British menus with all the pub faves. The local drink ouzo, ... Read review
