Corfu International Airport

Advantages: Quick on arrival. Leaving eventually
Disadvantages: Queuing

Corfu Airport :~ Now if anybody should know how bad Corfu or Kerkyra airport is i should as we had a delay of 8 1/4 hours. Mind you this was nothing to do with the airport more to do with Thomson and not getting a replacement plane after ours had broken down in Turkey almost 24hrs previously. ...had to get on the bus when walking would have been quicker and more comfortable someone higher only knows. What makes it crazier the other bus pulls up behind us with next to nobody on it, so why does everyone get told to cram on the first bus? Inside the airport air conditioning keeps you cool. Next passport control, some Greek policeman more interested in the girls with short skirts than looking at any one's passport. Toilets are located near ... Read review

We arrived at Corfu Airport on Monday 12th May at approx 15:45 local time. As usual some passengers ignored the instruction to stay in your seats with seat belt fastned until the plane has come to a stand and the engines have been switched off. ...the queueing and chaos of Corfu Airport. We were to be nicely Surprised, perhaps the early season, and we were going the other way on a bank holiday monday. Arrived on the coach, queued for about 5 mins before being taken to checkin desk. Checked in, you then have to queue again to have your cases Xrayed, again only a 5 min job. Disadvantages: Unbelievably Crowded

You would expect that early in the morning; (5am to be precise), you would arrive to find a nice, sedate, and empty airport. After all, when waiting for my midnight flight from stansted it was all very relaxed. Hardly a person in sight apart from the 100 or so people waiting for the 00:30 flight to corfu. We were wrong! ...the baggage belts amongst the 300 or so people. You would think this was bad for an airport with only 2 baggage belts. We were also wrong on this. After we got there, a flight arrived roughly every 10 minutes, and as the sun came up you quickly noticed the temperature rising amongst the 600 hundred or so people in the airport. Disadvantages: small, overcrowded, chaos!

This summer I visited Corfu with my boyfriend for the first time, it was absolutely wonderful. Having avoided the mayhem of Kavos we settled for the resort of Moratika, it was only 40 minutes from the airport. For those of you who have visited Corfu before, you may know what i am on about when i say that the airport is conpletely chaotic during peak season. The reps had warned us of the likelihood of huge queues etc. The queues were not the problem, ...
...be a whole lot bigger than it was. There was no where to sit, people were sitting on the floor, standing in the middle of aisles, sharing seats, sitting on bags, and this makes for an unpleasant end to what has been a lovely break. Check-in was fairly sharpish, the staff were very efficient but having checked in early we were stuck in an extremely overcrowded departure lounge. Advantages: a nice airport with a non smoking section which is unusual in corfu
Disadvantages: gets very busy

corfu airport came as a surprise to me, after being told how awful and smokey it was by a friend who had been there previously. when you first arrive there granted it is very hot and clammy but then you have just arrived in a hot climate, in all fairness you dont get to see all that much of the airport when you arrive, its when your going home, on the way home you arrive to a massive que outside, now this is the last thing you want when your holiday ...
...and your soon inside probably getting searched like i did, well i suppose thats there job and there was no harm done, the staff there are in no mood for joking so keep your head down and get through to departures, i seen a few people get held back because they were joking around. departures is really busy and theres a huge cue to get a drink or something to eat, so your probably better off getting something before you go, however once your through ...
