Advantages Like home from home
Disadvantages None whatsoever
The Bay Tree Guest House in Truro is excellent in every way. It is five minutes from the railway station, and five minutes walk to the centre of town. Bay Tree is owned and run by Mrs Ann Renninson Talbot whose motto is "Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend" We found this to be so true. From the time she personally welcomed us at the door until we left the following morning, nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and homely with a comfy bed and lovely soft towels. Plenty of storage space and loads and loads of tea, coffee, sugar and milk, and biscuits. There were magazines outside the door for guests to peruse, and the breakfast was DELICIOUS. Whatever we wanted, and plenty of it. I have NEVER seen such a large selection of jams and spreads for our toast, and there was a choice of 14 different cereals. Something not even the poshest hotels aspire to, I believe. I needed to make a phone call and she insisted that I used her private phone, rather than the payphone in the hall. All in all, it was a memorable stay, made so by a very nice lady, and if ever we venture that way again we shall certainly stay at the Bay Tree. There are 4 rooms in this house, and she also has another B & B around the corner. Prices range from £25-£30 for singles and £38-£40 for doubles. There is a single with small double bed, a family room with double and single bed and two twin rooms with two beds. The website is www.baytree-guesthouse. co.uk and you book by phone.
