Looe in Cornwall is a quaint little village with lots to offer. I discovered it back in 2008 and couldn’t wait to visit it again this year while holidaying in Cornwall.
It is about 40 mins away from Newquay and you could be forgiven for thinking you was abroad when you arrive there.
The whole place is built around a locke which goes out to the sea.
There are plenty of cosey, back-street resturants offering fresh fish caught the same day it is served.
The resturants range from seafood to Italian to good old English comfort food, there is something for everyone.
If you don’t fancy dinner you can grab a drink at one of the local pubs and then afterwards take a stroll along the water front along to the beach and let the world pass you by.
If you get there earlia on in the day you can grab some bargains at one of the many unique clothes shops, including ‘Ginger in Looe,’ a boutique offering handmade Indian silk scarfs, bags, bangles and lots of vintage type accessories.
I’d recommend visiting Looe Bakery. They make the really tasty pasties, including a lamb and mint one which is amazing.
They also sell takeaway cream tea, great for relatives back home.
I think five scones, a pot of strawberry jam and a 1/4 clotted cream (plenty!) cost about £4.50. They are always baked fresh and are really yummy.
If you don’t have a sweet tooth you can take a mackeral fishing trip instead.
For just £10 you will spend two hours out at sea enjoying the summer sunshine and trying to catch some supper.
I did this and caught five! we then barbecued them later on!
If you have ever been to Madeira near Portugal, and go to Looe you will see a resembalence.
The houses are picturesque and built going up hills, it all looks stunning.
Looe is a quiet, friendly place which has a large fishing scene.
I am 22 years old and although Looe seems to attract older people myself and my friends have enjoyed many days in the village and would recommend it to anyone.
With its clear water, amazing shops and food you would be missing out on a stunning hidden gem that is Looe, so if you go to Cornwall this summer make sure to take a trip to Looe

Advantages: Buses are more frequent than they used to be and new routes have been introduced. Disadvantages: They often break down and aren't waterproof in the rain!
