Looe in Cornwall - An English jewel
Advantages: Friendly, quaint, good shops and food, fishing trips, feels like abroad Disadvantages: Need a car to drive to the village as public transport in Cornwall is not great!
Looe in Cornwall is a quaint little village with lots to offer. I discovered it back in 2008 and couldn’t wait to visit it again this year while holidaying in Cornwall.
It is about 40 mins away from Newquay and you could be forgiven for thinking you was abroad when you arrive there. The whole place is built around a locke which goes out to the sea.
There are plenty of cosey, back-street resturants offering fresh fish caught the same day it is served.
... ...enjoyed many days in the village and would recommend it to anyone.
With its clear water, amazing shops and food you would be missing out on a stunning hidden gem that is Looe, so if you go to Cornwall this summer make sure to take a trip to Looe ...

Fowey
Advantages: Beautiful Views Disadvantages: Very steep walking
We visted Fowey a couple of times last year while on a family holiday. Staying in Looe we drove around to Fowey and found a car park at the top of the Village. Little did I know what a steep hill we had to walk down to get to the hub of the village. (Definitely recommend sensible footwear if you take the walking option) We walked all the way down, not realising that there is a car park mini bus which will take you there in more comfort. Idon't know ... ...on it, but judging by the River Taxi fares, i would expect it to be very reasonable.
There are few small shops in the Village and a museum and banks. By the waterside, there is a fish and chip restaurant, the usual ice-cream stand and some Public Houses.
Views are beautiful across the water and there are lots of boat trips on offer. The second time we visted Fowey during our stay, we crossed from Polruen on a river taxi. Again, we parked at the ...

Porthleven
Advantages: Beautiful location, lots to do and see, great for families Disadvantages: Touristy at times, long car journey
Porthleven is a small, picturesque fishing village two miles from Helston. We have been holidaying here as a family for the past eight years and think it is fantastic both in the summer and in the autumn.
The journey to and from Porthleven can be quite long and tiring especially when you get caught in traffic, as so often happens when you travel down in the summer. We tend to leave home early in the morning and stop off at various places to break ... ...to travel. We have breakfasted on Bodmin Moor (in search of the legendary beast, visted Tintagel Castle (more about that later), Jamaica Inn, Port Isaac and various other sights along the way.
Porthleven itself is a quaint fishing village/town, the main body of which is situated around the walled harbour. This is a lovely place to walk around in the Summer and we often head over to The Ship Inn which is situated on the far side of the harbour. This ...

The Best Week of Life Thus Far...
Advantages: All the facilities, great price, perfect for my age Disadvantages: None!
Going on holiday when you’re my age, can be a pain in the arse. Can we afford going abroad? No, we couldn’t, for starters, I didn’t have a passport, so that is £70 straight away. Could we afford renting a house or something? Yes, but no-one would rent to us for the week due to us all being 18/19. So, with options running out, my friends Jam and Kay, spent an evening frantically looking for something to do. They eventually found this place, Rose Cliston ... ...of us going, and a mental week had been planned, however, as the date got closer, nearly everyone bailed, and it ended up being just Jam, Kay and I. About Rose Cliston Rose Cliston is a Holiday Park, located just outside of Newquay, and it is designed for people aged 16-30. It is basically a huge camp site, where you go and pitch your tent, or caravan, or if you wish hire a huge tent thing from them. You could then spend all your time at the ...

Lands End: Wonderful scenery, a magical place!
Advantages: Sense of adventure, lots to do Disadvantages: Remote, takes a while to get here
Lands End is not exactly what you expect- the land peels away down cliffs into the wide open sea. But it is much more than just a place where land meets the sea. It is a place of great adventure, where many start or finish their cross counrty adventures.
Apart from this, it is a place of great remoteness, far out on the western point of the Penwith peninsula. You may expect there to be nothing here, just a sign and a car park perhaps, but there ... ...oppurtunity for cliff walking near Lands End. Head north along the coast path, and you will find Sennen Cove, a small village with a truly spectacular 2 mile long beach. There are a few shipwrecks to spot along the way, at the bottom of the cliffs! It really is worth it, there is no other sight quite like it.
To get to Lands End, from anywhere, just follow the M5 to Exeter, then the A30, until the road ends! There are local buses from Penzance numbered ...
