There is a restaurant, Cornwall Park Garden Restaurant but I have never eaten here.
It is a very popular place for locals to come and exercise. It is also a very safe park as there are always lots of people around.

Unfortunately today it is jokingly referred to as 'No Tree Hill' as the lone tree that once sat on top was destroyed by protestors. The hill can be seen from most places around central Auckland and all that remains on top is a tall concrete oblisque shaped structure. Possibly a memorial but I'm not sure.
The park itself is quite large and there are roads and walkways leading through the park and up to the top of the hill. There is plenty of parking and toilet facilities. There are also BBQ areas, open areas to play sports and plenty of tree coverage.
There are playgrounds for children. One of the highlights is that around the hill sheep roam freely, the bottom of the hill is fenced off. This is great for children.

Growing up in Auckland I have lots of fond memories frequenting the park as a child for family picnics and regularly visit now as an adult. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area and have a spare afternoon. It is a great place to meet friends in summer and relax. Best of all it's free!
For more information on the park and directions go to: http://www.cornwallpark.co.nz/
If you are keen walker I would recommend the 'Coast to Coast' walk (not to be confused with the one in the South Island.) This 16km walk takes the best part of the day and runs from Onehunga through Auckland to the Viaduct Waterfront or visa versa. Although I would recommend finishing up at the Waterfront as there are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy a well deserved drink! This walk encompasses Cornwell Park as well as Mt Eden.

We arrived at Auckland International Airport from Fiji in late afternoon. It took a while to clear immigration and customs, and ,more prolonged, to clear the checks of the NZ Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Quarantine service, as we had 2 wood based gift products purchased in Nadi.

Greenlane is a pleasant leafy residential suburb of Auckland, adjacent to Cornwallpark. There is a good bus service into central Auckland, and importantly the hotel is well placed for access to the Southern Motorway which we used to head south to Rotorua ...

The main tourist attractions within the city include the Auckland Museum which is home to one of the best Maori and Polynesian collections in the world, the Maritime Museum on the waterfront, Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World Aquarium, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, the Museum of Transport and Technology, the Auckland Zoo, CornwallPark and the many ferry and scenic harbour cruises which operate to the North Shore and islands of the Hauraki Gulf.
