Rick Stein's St. Petroc's Bistro
Advantages: Smart eating in friendly atmosphere Disadvantages: Need to book well in advance and slow service
...Stein empire. Next up is St. Petroc's Bistro, more accessibly priced with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. He also has Rick Stein's Café and Stein's Fish and Chips. If you enjoy eating out in good restaurants, and are in Cornwall, a trip to Padstow is a must. In addition to the restaurants, Stein also has a well stocked gift shop / deli on the habourside.
St Petroc's Bistro is sited in an unpretentious building on New Street, a short walk from the ... ...fashioned guest house, (there are also a small number of rooms available), with minimal signage to indicate the restaurant inside. Going into the restaurant there are a number of dining and reception areas, as well as an outdoor dining area. As you would expect from such an old building the individual areas are not large in comparison to modern restaurants but this creates a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere that is light and fresh. The décor is predominately ...

A taste of Cornwall
Advantages: wonderful food Disadvantages: it's too far away from where I live!
...in the restaurant at the London Inn in the village of Kilkhampton on the A39. They have different menus for lunch time and evening, though we were eating from the evening menu by pre arrangement.
The restaurant is in a seperate room to one side of the taditionally decorated bar and is no smoking. The pub is on a main road, and although there is a garden with seating at the back, we didn't actually go out there.
There is a varied menu, from the ... ...with various vegetarian options. There is also a children's menu. There is also a specials board which changes daily.
With twelve starters, mains and desserts, everyone was very happy with whatever they had chosen. The starters and mains covered a wide range from the menu, but strawberries and cream was the most popular dessert. Must have been the time of year!
The total bill, including drinks only came to £216 - good value by anybody's standards. ...

CAFFE PASTA ST IVES CORNWALL
Advantages: Good Large portions of pasta Disadvantages: Lasagna, not as good as Steve makes
...the name of the place CAFFE PASTA PIZZA suggests that is the main things on the menu, but there are also Steaks.
The staff are very attentive without being obtrusive, and they obviously have been well trained with a good work ethic.
Starters :-
Soup, on the nights we were in Was Green Pea one night and Wild Mushroom the other. What I like is that you get a Large Deep Bowl of piping Hot Soup, not one of those shallow dishes where it goes cold fast.
... ...the other.
So our normal bill is about £34 for Two Starters, Two mains, Bottle Red Wine and Water (Tap the free one).
I bet in the Summer you have to book well in advance.

Advantages: Cheap, decent food Disadvantages: Customer service, general staff attitude
...St Austell. There is a Pizza Hut in Truro and a Pizza Hut in St Austell, we have visited the Truro restaurant many times and we have never had a problem with any aspect of the establishment. However we have recently started going to the St Austell eatery, some things are great and some things are not so great.

Advantages: Interesting menu. Nicely presented food. Lovely light and airy location. Stunning views. Disadvantages: Hard to park nearby during the day and summer season.
...adverts for a restaurant called Fistral Blu. On our way out of Newquay we decided to go and have a look at it from the outside, peruse their menu and generally see whether it would be worth returning one evening. We liked what we saw, and decided we'd give it try later on that week - hopefully when the weather was a little bit sunnier, as the venue certainly appeared to lend itself to alfresco dining.

... ...right on the edge of Fistral Beach, it affords its diners a panoramic view of the sea and the surfers. Yes, that's right - surfers. Fistral Beach in Newquay has a reputation as one of the premier surfing beaches in the UK. The west facing beach is almost a mile long and covered in a lovely pale gold sand with steep dunes in parts. As you can imagine, the beach gets extremely crowded in the summer months, not just with sun worshippers, but with the ...
