Feel far away but without the long haul flight
Advantages: Beauty, a true holiday Disadvantages: none
...the history makes them so. Corsica has been battled over by the French and the Italians, and so they have their own combination of influences which is totally unique. Having said that it is now a French island , but the Italian influence peeps out here and there. Back to the food, couldn't ask for better quality or value, absolutely superb. Hospitality - outstanding - genuine and warm
Scenery - almost defies description - from white sands and blue ... ...has to be seen to be believed - the island rises very steeply from beach to mountain - although driving can be hair-rasing to say the least - more than a few hairpin bends on narrow roads and steep climbs followed by plummeting falls - adds to the adventure if you can keep your eyes open!
What else can I say - there's a wide variety of water sports available, as well as horse riding, vineyard visits and wine tasting.

Hidden Beauty

...seven week working holiday In Corsica and I have to say I was amazed that I had never before heard of this beautiful island. It is overflowing with white sandy stretches alongside clear green blue sea. The white cliffs of Bonifacio are the perfect frame for the open sea and when you look down and see the people who have managed to reach the all but deserted beac below you know you have to go down there. Corsica in general
Advantages: Beautiful scenery, largely unspoilt, weather Disadvantages: Lack of package deals
Corsica is a beautiful island of the Mediterranean coast of France. The island offers sandy beaches, rugged coasts, mountains, wild countryside, fascinating towns and villages. Package tours have hardly touched the place, but it is a favourite destination for the French, Italians and Germans and it's easy to see why.
The climate is similar to southern France; if you want cooler times try spring or autumn.
Main towns are Ajaccio (birthplace of Napoleon), ... ...climbing etc. Corsica does not have a great night life in the way that places like Ibiza do, but you won't need it after a day exploring and an evening eating.
To get around, a hire car is essential. Unlike the rest of France, there is no airport car hire tax so rates are reasonable. Do not expect to cover great distances - the roads are good but very bendy.
Corsica is not cheap, but it need not be expensive. Taxes are lower than in the rest of ...
