get to know the area of Nice and afterwards we will catch the boat to the island of Corsica. Under a brilliant sunny blue sky various trains will take us along the beautiful coast and through high mountains landscapes, to Mediterranean villages and historical cities. It will be a journey that shows why Corsica is fondly dubbed the Ile de Beauté: island of beauty. The railway takes us to the south of Spain. By the train we travel through beautiful Andalusia with Seville and Grenada as the most important places. Andalusia with its flamenco, sherry, fiestas and bull-fights, typifies the stereotypes of Spain, well-know, but ever so interesting. Corsica is a beautiful island of the Mediterranean coast of France. The island offers sandy beaches, rugged coasts, mountains, wild countryside, fascinating towns and villages. Package tours have hardly touched the place, but it is a favourite destination for the French, Italians and Germans and it's easy to see why.

Corsica does not have a great night life in the way that places like Ibiza do, but you won't need it after a day exploring and an evening eating.
To get around, a hire car is essential. Unlike the rest of France, there is no airport car hire tax so rates are reasonable. Do not expect to cover great distances - the roads are good but very bendy.

Main towns are Ajaccio (birthplace of Napoleon), Calvi (reputed birthplace of Columbus) and Bastia. Each has an international airport and ferry harbours linking to France and Italy.
Prettiest area, in my opinion, is around Calvi, itself a picturesque harbour, but wherever you go the scenery is superb. Food is excellent, part French, part Italian but clearly Corsican. Wild boar is a speciality. Restaurants are reasonably priced and you'll usually eat outdoors.
Activity holidays are well catered for, especially if you enjoy walking, climbing etc.

Corsica is not cheap, but it need not be expensive. Taxes are lower than in the rest of France (e.g. cigarettes about £1.25) and there is enough competition to keep costs down.
The Corsicans are friendly, helpful and proud of their island. They call it the scented isle, and it is, thanks to the flowers and herbs that grow wild all over the island. Arriving by ferry, you can literally smell the island in the distance.
Advantages: Beauty, a true holiday Disadvantages: none
...the history makes them so. Corsica has been battled over by the French and the Italians, and so they have their own combination of influences which is totally unique. Having said that it is now a French island , but the Italian influence peeps out here and there. Back to the food, couldn't ask for better quality or value, absolutely superb. Hospitality - outstanding - genuine and warm
Scenery - almost defies description - from white sands and blue ... ...has to be seen to be believed - the island rises very steeply from beach to mountain - although driving can be hair-rasing to say the least - more than a few hairpin bends on narrow roads and steep climbs followed by plummeting falls - adds to the adventure if you can keep your eyes open!
What else can I say - there's a wide variety of water sports available, as well as horse riding, vineyard visits and wine tasting.
What do I remember most - trying ...

Advantages: Its Beautiful Disadvantages: Its French
...seven week working holiday In Corsica and I have to say I was amazed that I had never before heard of this beautiful island. It is overflowing with white sandy stretches alongside clear green blue sea. The white cliffs of Bonifacio are the perfect frame for the open sea and when you look down and see the people who have managed to reach the all but deserted beac below you know you have to go down there. I am a bit unsure about writing this as the ...

Advantages: Just off the motorway Disadvantages: TGV line runs along side
This hotel was used by my husband and I on our way back from Corsica to our home in Deux Sevres, France. It proved to be a good choice, as it was situated right next to the motorway. The hotel was extremely comfortable, with large bedrooms and an equally spacious bathroom with both bath and shower. The staff were delightful, and went out of their way to help. For example we had failed to notify them that we would like to use their free wifi facility, when we paid online. The young man on reception found a way of circumventing their procedures to ensure that we had access to it in our room.
Equally covenient was the fact that the hotel had its own restaurant, although it is advisable to book a table at the time of check in as their is another hotel next door without a restaurant, and the guests of this establishment tend to eat in ...

The very interesting thing that Sanremo offers is the possibility of visiting a protected international marine oasis (the ares among Corsica, Liguria and the south of France), where you can see dolphins, whales, and other protected races.
Another positive characteric of Sanremo is the climate, so wonderful that in January there are the so called 'corsi fioriti' (flowers parades') with typical wagon.
The tradition of the "bloomed courses" is of XIX century and it is a part of a similar tradition, that of the 'flowersbattlesì.
Of these ancient traditions you can find the tracs in "Sanremo in flower", in the "Battle of the flowers" of Ventimiglia, in the "Festival of lemons" of Mentone and in the "Battles of
flowers" of Nizza ...
Advantages: Excellent Food, Great Entertainment, Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Ship is quite old, Not much to see in port without going on excursions
and made the younger guests feel very welcome. The facilities on ship were second to none, and considering the ship was around twenty years old it had been kept in very good condition and obviously modernised in keeping with todays standards. The entertainment was very good, the food was excellent and all members of staff worked hard to make sure you enjoyed your holiday.
