Corus Magnificus
Review of Corus Hotel Hyde Park, London by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: CLEAN, LOCAL IDEAL TO COMMUTE
Disadvantages: CRAMPED SPACE

...When I decided on a short break down to London, I was totally stumped on somewhere to stay that was really close to the main attractions and also steered by the price. The Corus Hotel Hyde Park looked to be in an ideal location just 5 minutes walk from Lancaster Gate Tube station (100 yards)and 15 minutes away from Heathrow Airport where I had flown into perfect I thought. This hotel overlooks the infamous Hyde Park, hence the name and was only 3 stops from shoppers paradise. As you approach the hotel you firstly spot the restaurant which is located at the front, you need to walk past this and turn right at the corner of the building to enter the reception, here you are greeted by two members of staff on the reception and there is also a concierge on hand to assist you with your bags. Check-in process was really simple... Read review

Good Hotel for exploring Bristol
Review of Ramada Plaza Hotel, Bristol by  sadoldbag

Advantages: Clean, comfy, modern
Disadvantages: Very expensive restarant and bar, rather sad swimming pool and gym

...decorated Arts bar and restaurant but the prices were a bit much. There is a 17th century kiln in the middle of the restaurant . Good service and a nice breakfast but for dinner you are in the centre so go out - better than spending £15 on a main course, £6 on a starter and £5 on a pud. It cost £4.40 for a 175ml glass of Pinot grigio white wine. Ouch! The small swimming pool and leisure club, with sauna and steam, as well as gym machines had friendly staff but it was all a bit sad and dated. they are closing them for a month in March/April though so that is presumably to refurb so things could well be improving there. The whole hotel is modern, clean once you are inside and really well situated for exploring Bristol.... Read review

Jarvis Hotel, Bristol
Review of Jarvis Hotel, Bristol by  polydeuces

Advantages: Good leisure club,nice rooms
Disadvantages: Unfriendly staff

...The Jarvis Hotel is a couple of miles north of Bristol in an area called Winterbourne. As a former country house built in the mid 19th century and with extensive grounds it has every going for it as a hotel. The Jarvis group have spent a lot of money refurbishing the place including an excellent Poolside leisure Club with swimming pool, spa, solarium and under-utilised exercise equipment. As is often the case the pool is a little small and you soon learn how a goldfish must feel swimming around the same extent of water only about 6 times your body length. The rooms in the old part of the hotel are quite spacious but you may find those in the newer part little better than a motorway lodge for size. They are clean and tidy and have the obligatory tea-making facilities. All rooms are en-suite. The bar is cramped but nearby is a huge... Read review
