I recently travelled with cosmos to Falaraki in Rhodes and was some what disapointed.

We booked for a young and lively resort and went with cosmos because of the deal they had. Due to the fact my parner is 6ft5 we were advised when booking to get to the airport early to be given seats with extra legroom. When we arived at the airport they told us we could only get them if we paid extra £15 per person each way which we could not afford to do, so wasted our time rushing to get to the airport.

On arriving in resort the transfer rep was nice and helpful. Our welcome meeting was at 1.30 but as we did not arrive until 7.30 am we did not attend this due to needing sleep after being cramped on the plane. When we met our rep he gave us the info we needed but didn't put any pressure on us.

The appartments were very nice except the brochure stated that they were air conditioned which was quite a strong factor in us booking for that hotel. However the appartments were not air conditioned and never had been, we had to pay extra to hire a fan so we could at least get some sleep as otherwise the appartments were unbarably hot. When we mentioned this to the rep he just said that there wasnt air conditioning in the appartments.

Our bags were searched by customs on the way out there without us present and another bag that we had packed was missing, when reporting this to the rep he filled in the forms but never came back to us with the information we needed.

As we were there for two weeks we decided to do our own thing in the first week and go on excursions in the second. There was very little to do in the way of excursions that would be attractive to the young. Yet they advertise it as young and lively in the brochure. We booked tickets to the water park and to go on a boat trip which was sold as a sunbathing experience where you could sunbathe on the deck.

At the end of our first week our rep moved to a different country and we got a new rep. As they old guests were leaving we spoke to some of them and discovered that you could not sunbathe on the decks and that you were all crammed onto benches. We decided to cancel.

The new guests had there welcome meeting at 11am on thursday so we went down at the end of that to cancel with the new rep. She initially walked up to us and asked if we had just arrived when we said no she went to walk off, she had no interest in us what so ever. When we said we wanted to cancel she asked why and then said she was sure that you could sunbathe and said that she would check for us and asked us to come back at 10.30 am the next day. We then sat and listened to her telling others that you could sunbathe on the deck. We overslept the next morning and woke at 11am by this time the rep had gonemaking no effort to contact us, we then discovered that she was not due back at the hotel until monday, the excursion was on sunday and we had to give 24 hours notice. We had no choice but to phone the office, when we spoke to someone in the office they straight away knew that you couldnt sunbathe on deck and said our money would be refunded on her next visit.

Every visit the rep made after this she was not wearing her uniform and looked very unproffesional. She refunded us our money on monday, as our holiday finished on wednesday we had no time to book for anything else. We also were ment to be contacted by the rep to fill in a comments form which she did for every other guest except us. She basically did not want to know unless she could sell stuff to you.

On returning home I wrote a letter to cosmos. They did not compensate us for the air conditioning and just said we should have complained on resort and just apologised.

Faliraki has got such a bad name for itself with all the drunken brits that go there. I hope you have a better time on your next holidays. Personally I wouldn't trust reps to look after me during a holiday, most of them have had little experience and some of them lack a degree of proffesionalism. The TV series Club reps, didn't do them any favours.

I've not tried one of those kinds of holidays with them, but with touring holidays they're usually pretty reliable. The reps probably are only in uniform on transfer days, when tourists are leaving or arriving. Other days they'd just be smart/cas, with a badge if needed.
