I just wanted to let you all know about Gudalest. It is a small village in the mountains and it is gorgeous. It is set on a small hill so it can be a bit of a walk for the very unfit but there are plenty of bars and shops to stop at on the way up. There are a couple of museums, one showing you how the houses used to be on the inside and one ,which is more for the kids, which is a miniature museum, you can see a poem written on a grain of rice. The views are spectacular and you can go all the way to the top where the castle stands. Also about 200 m outside of the village is an animal rescue zoo. It is owned by two Dutch guys I believe and they have built all the paths and stuff themselves. Youc an hold a snake or just wander round and learn about the animals they have rescued. When i went they had lions living in part of the mountain, all fenced off of course and they listened to classical music all day. it was lovely to see them in a more natural habitiat, and you know that your entrance fee is goign towards helping them and other animals. It was visited by the Queen of Spain last year too. Anyways Gudalest is a lovely place for a day out and I would highly recommend it, it is easily got to by car or there are plebty of bus trips up there. Enjoy your holidays!!
