My hubby and I bought a house nr Moraira on the Costa Blanca in Sept 2003. The place exceeded all our expectations. It is a top floor appartment on the Cumbre del Sol urbanisation which is basically between Moraira and Benitachell on the Northern Costa Blanca. It is just off teh A7-E15 toll road at the Benissa turn off. Acess to Benitachell has been much improved by teh new roundabout.
Cumbre del Sol itself has so many facilities and all the properties are privately owned. There is also a limit on areas which can be developed which was a huge pull for us. We have a huge shared community pool/pool bar/patio with live music in the summer. On site are several banks, car hire, well stocked supermarket, several bars/cafes/restaurants. All low rise properties overlooking the med and you can see Ibiza on a clear day. The beach can only be accessed from the urbanisation. A new commercial centra is currently being built. I find the amount of facilities amazing as Benitachell is closeby with plenty of facilities.
The local towns of Denia, Moraira and Calpe area all have that wow factor scenery wise. It can prove expensive to eat out at night, so we either cook @ the appartment and sit out looking at the med on the roof terrace or we go in to Benidorm where we can buy a 3 course meal for 4 euros (chinese). I also remommend the Yorkshire Pride, Pizza Hut and Penny Lane as places for inexpensive good meals - around 5 euros for a main course. Morairas Le Portet beach is beautiful. On the way in to Moraira is go karting which I can not unfortunately give price of as I havent been yet. We seem to have a long to do list. If you are someone like me and run a UK based internet business you will find the plentiful cyber cafes in Benidorm a life saver. Calpe, Benitachell etc all have cyber cafes. It was 1 euro for an hour last time I went.
Calpe Rock is impressive, as is Denia port. There are theme parks, animal parks, water parks, plentiful beaches. There is also a lovely railway through the mountains which I plan to go on next time I go. That goes from near Al Faz (just outside Benidorm). Mundemar (just outside Benidorm) was great. It is an animal park where you can see trainers in the water with sea lions, dolphins etc, and have your pic taken with these animals. The wild bird show was also interesting. If you walk round Benidorm there are people handing out flyers to get in to Mundemar and Aqualandia (water park) for a good price. Aqualandia is only open in Summer season whereas we got into Mundemar last April. My mum and dad had a 4 course meal with wine and entertainment at benidorm palace for 20 euros!
Every time I go I discover new exciting places to visit or to eat. Plenty of shopping places and Costa Blanca served by both Alicante and Valencia airport. Even Murcia airport is not too far away. We always hire a car so that we can fully appreciate the local area, although our late night trip to Albacete in thick fog when I was heading for Alicante will never cease to put a smile on my face. Car hire is so cheap and we have never paid more than £80 for a week from Holiday Autos or carjet and my hubby recently flew into Murcia and hired a car for weekend with no deposit to pay for £39.00. You cant beat a plane ticket for £20 and a car for £39! What I would recommend is taking up excess waiver with car rental co. as I have had my car dented a couple of times when left parked in Benidorm.
Now this is a nice review...... How far is your dream house from Bennidorm? I have been to Bennidorm a couple of times, and I am off to a place between Malaga and Fengarola next Sat 9th April.....flying from Luton airport which is my nearest airport, Yours too by the sound of it.....Heatherx
