great swell.. be careful

Advantages: Great waves, close to Jaco
Disadvantages: Dangerous for begginers, not many amenities

Playa Hermosa means beautiful beach. And it really is. It 20 minutes drive south of jaco Beach, and is a lot quieter. There is no real town center there although there is a growing number of bars and restaurants and it is sure to become more populated. I have never been there on bus but I know there is one. There have been a nuber of grommets killed there in the last few years and if you aren't good at surfing I recomment Jaco beach. Actually, most people stay in Jaco, as the facilites are much better, and then drive to Hermosa after breakfast. This is definitly the best option! go to Jaco for a good small surf

Advantages: Wonderful beach, easy access
Disadvantages: Crime, no tubes.

I used to live in Costa Rica for 6 years. The easiest beach to get to is Jaco Beach, like 2/3 hours from the Capital, San Jose, depending on the hour (tip: I used to go at 3 in the morning and be down there in time for the sunrise, a good breakfast, and time to relax before heading out) It is close enough to allow you to go down for the day and get back to the hotel in San Jose for a shower (or to hit the bars in my case!)
