Benalmadena the Costa del Sol

Advantages: Friendly town with lots to do, a lovely holiday.
Disadvantages: If you steer clear of the 'English Bars' there are none

...a 'travel snob' regarding the Costa del Sol. I envisaged the types of scene in TV's Benadorm, a type of Blackpool with sun. As members of a vacation club ( it was then Sunterra now Diamon Resorts) we had the opportunity for a weeks break for relatively few points at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadea Costa, as we could get Easy Jet airfairs to Malaga for a very low price we decided to try it. We have been three times more since then - so needless to ...
...It is set on the Costa del Sol between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. Benalmadena is a coastal resort that runs 8km along the coast and climbs steeply up into mountains behind. The town is basically split into three - not only geographically but also culturally and it is well worth travelling around and getting to know it all. The original heart of Benalmadena, before the high rise buildings and tourism took over at the coast, is a lovely little place ...

Costa Del Sol

Advantages: Cheap loads of sun
Disadvantages: Too much english

I have lived in Costa Del Sol for about a year and half and just returned home to the uk four weeks ago.One thing good about southern Spain is that there's plenty of sun all year round even in the winter its nothing like the UK it's sill quite warm. There are plenty and plenty of English, Irish and Welsh bars out there which to me it was a bit too much and that's one thing that I didn't like in southern Spain due to its very English. Shopping ...
...hour from Fungerola which has Marks and Spencer and a very big shopping mall there. Malaga is just half an hour way as well, in the central train station there is a shopping mall with plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes. Night Life Benelemedena has a 24hour even thou the pubs and clubs are not open 24h most of the clubs are shut by six in the morning. i worked in one of them for about six months and Its gets very busy there summer time with ...

Rancho ferrer Nov 2007

Advantages: Fabulous horses, people and food!
Disadvantages: I didn't have a hire car so there was little to do in the afternoons in November

I have literally just arrived home from the airport and felt it necessary to come online and completely contridict the previous persons review of rancho ferrer! This holiday was by far the best holiday I have ever had, the horses were amazingly well looked after, happy and enjoyed their jobs. The scenary was breathtaking and each day we went a different route to provide both us and the horses with variety. The evening meals were absolutely gorgeous ...
...room stocked with local goodies for breakfast and lunch so I could help myself. Everyone, our hosts Mike and Anne Marie, the girls Leanne, Carmen and Maria and everyone at Rancho Ferrer were lovely and welcoming. The room was very comfortable, clean and above all exactly what I was expecting from this kind of holiday. I would recommend Rancho Ferrer to anyone, especially those who love riding! A top quality holiday! ...

Rancho Ferrer Riding Holiday 2006

Advantages: Great horses, great staff, lovely food, other activities on offer
Disadvantages: Very hot in August

We took a family holiday to Rancho Ferrer (nearest airport Malaga or Granada) in August 2006. Our party consisted of myself, my wife and two teenage daughters. The booking was handled direct using their website, and the pre- holiday admin was easy and quick. We took advantage of a discount to hire a car (also handled through their website, and very efficient). The directions were sent to us beforehand and easy to follow, and the drive from Malaga ...
...hosts who showed us into a lovely converted Spanish farm building, which was very rustic and simple, but spotlessly clean and well-appointed. We were shown around the village, the bar, pool, hot tub, and met the horses and the resident staff. Water supply is a problem in this part of Spain, so we were told all the houses (8 of them) used by the ranch have showers. But as we had the use of the ranch hot tub after a hard ride, that was just fine! ...

RANCHO FERRER HORSE RIDING HOLIDAY 2006

Advantages: Sun
Disadvantages: Cost of holiday

RANCHO FERRER RIDING HOLIDAY 2006 This is an honest report of our riding holiday at Rancho Ferrer, Rubite, Spain, I have tried to be fair in levelling praise where due and constructive criticism where necessary. Directions as supplied by the host were good and easy to follow We had been looking forward to going to Spain and our riding holiday at Rancho Ferrer (Rubite) so much and after spending a few days prior to arrival at Rancho Ferrer in a ...
...our arrival at Rancho Ferrer started off the week on a sour note. On opening the front door of our house the smell of disinfectant reminded one of a public convenience, it was overpowering. The surfaces for food preparation were 'sticky' to the touch and the tiled surfaces were loose in places. The accommodation had not been cleaned properly, the pan scrubber and wipe which were left on the sink had been used for cleaning out the ashtrays (they ...
