Well, maybe they don't smile, but I should think the animals here are as happy as any animals in captivity. I have visted the Cotswold Wildlife park at least ten times and the conditions always seem to be first class; the animals have plenty of space, clean bedding, a variety of food and seem to be active and in good health. The animals range from the huge giraffes to fascinating tiny creatures like ants. While most of the animals are outside there are enough indoor activites to make the place worth a visit when the weather is dodgy, including an aquarium, insect house and reptile house. Don't miss the bat exhibition; a two storey display of fruit bats. You can watch them fly, feed or just hang about. The park as several 'non-animal' attractions including a workshop where you can watch a glass blower at work and buy the animals he makes. There is also a brass rubbing centre (which costs extra), a good cafe, an adventure playground and train ride (costs extra). The best time to visit, as long as you wrap up warm, is on a bright, crisp winter's day when there are very few people about and the animals are more active than they tend to be on very hot days.
