...Travel Inns are the best cheap hotel chain in the country. There are approx. 250 of them around Britain including ones in prime spots such as central London, the middle of Leeds and seaside towns like Blackpool and Brighton. A large proportion of the Inns have been built in the last 10 years and as a result are still shiny and new. However even with the older Inns the quality is consistently good. They are always clean and modern. The layout of the Inns and the bedrooms is near enough the same anywhere you go even down to the pattern on the bed covers and make of television. All bedrooms have 2 very comfortable double beds, one is usually a bed settee, and cots can be provided for babies. There is an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. The showers are absolutely brilliant, very powerful and an endless supply of hot water...

Advantages: beautiful, lots of pubs, cheap Disadvantages: weather,
...No one 's going to forget the recent flooding in York, it damaged millions of pounds worth of property and helped to cause mayhem and chaos across the country. However York is the ancient capital city of England, and it can be said without a doubt that it is still one of the most beautiful cities in this country. Some of the buildings within the city are still being cleaned out and it would be a lie to say that the city is back to normal already. But the city has recovered well and once again the tourists are returning in the droves, to visit such sites as the Minster and the city walls and to take part in such things as Ghost Tour around the city wall. York has 365 pubs, one for every day of the year and over 52 churches, a differant church for every sunday. As well as holding the grave of Dick Turpington the Highwsy man some parts...

Advantages: Everything about it. Disadvantages: Getting more expensive.
...A multitude of pubs and bars mixed with historic tourist attractions and the odd cobbled street make York a fascinating place to visit (or live).
There is so much to do, to see, to eat and to drink.
Highlights include the breaded mushrooms at Victor J's cafe-bar on Finkle Street, a pint of Terrier at Colliergate's Last Drop Inn and the sweet and sour fish at Goodramgate's Siam House.
Many new and expensive bars have made York the Notting Hill of the north, but there are enough traditional pubs that you feel like you are in the ancient city as portrayed in tourist brochures.
An excellent mix of the old and the new. Try it, I did and I ended up living here....
