My husband and I went to Couples Negril for our honeymoon last year - we did a two resort holiday, the first week at Couples Negril and the second at Couples Ocho Rios. Of the two, we preferred Couples Negril.
This place is amazing! From the moment we got on the courtesy bus from the airport, and our leader stopped off at a petrol station to pick up some Red Stripe for everyone!, to the minute we left, we were treated like royalty. The Jamaicans are so friendly, they can't do enough for you. The standard rooms are really nice - I can only imagine how lovely the deluxe ones must be! You can see the beach from all rooms (it seemed) and most overlook the gardens/wedding gazebo. There was a king size bed, CD player, satellite TV, safe, air conditioning, clean sheets and towels every day - even towels to take to the beach, which you could exchange for fresh ones.
The beach was fantastic, just like you imagine it will be but don't really expect to see! White sand, turquoise sea which is very warm and very calm, plenty of sunloungers, complete with cushions that double up as floats! The same sunloungers/floats are round the pool, which is really nice, with two jacuzzi's and a swim up bar.
The food was delicious - from the full cooked breakfast, freshly made omelettes or fresh fruit in a morning, to the snack bar or self service restaurant at lunchtime, and to the main restaurant or Italian-style restaurant in the evening, it was all great. There was also an a la carte restaurant, but we didn't eat there. There's speciality nights on a few times a week, with barbecues or theme nights. There are 3 bars, including a piano bar that doesn't shut until the last person leaves!
There's lots of activities to do (gym, tennis, horse riding, watersports, etc), or you can just be lazy! There's entertainment on every night, but you're not forced into joining in - the beach party was a good laugh, though! Some trips are included - a sunset catamaran cruise, trip to the Pickled Parrot for cliff jumping - and others. We paid to do a trip down the Black River to see crocodiles, which was amazing. We also got a visit to the YS Falls included in that trip, which was pretty spectacular (though not as spectacular as Dunns River Falls, which we went to from Couples Ocho Rios - you can pay to visit it from Couples Negril, but its free from Ocho Rios).
All in all we had a fantastic time at Couples Negril and didn't want to leave to go to Ocho Rios. But it was an experience to fly in a 6-seater plane - just us and the pilot - over to Ocho Rios - one of the highlights of the holiday! After visiting both resorts, we would return to either of them - but mostly to Couples Negril - we're definitely going to go back again! If you choose this hotel, you will not be disappointed. It's expensive, but in our opinion, worth every penny.

Is this all inclusive? Do you get room service in any of the rooms - what about the deluxe/better rooms? I heard there was golf nearby? How much did this holiday cost you? How much did you pay for excursions or food/drink? What sort of evening entertainment was there? Did you get hassell from residents outside the resort or people trying to sell stuff - i heard this is a problem. Is this a 3, 4 or 5 star hotel? Did you get to do any watersports or were they included in your stay or did you have to pay additional for these? Were there snobby people or many kids around? Whjats the dress code at dinner? Were looking for a honeymoon - just a few questions needed to be answered! How comes you flew in the 6 seated plane? Was this a ride or part of the tranfer to the air port? Bev.

Advantages: Everything - its an amazing place! Disadvantages: None that we encountered, although we heard it wasn't safe to venture out into Negril on your own.
