Ongiara - Niagara. Thunder of Waters.

Advantages: Fun holiday resort with exceptional Waterfalls
Disadvantages: Can get extremely busy in summer months

resort anywhere in the world with its vast array of motels and hotels, boarding houses, gift shops and restaurants; there are 12,000 places of accommodation between both American and Canadian cities. Pulling into the Marriott Courtyard Hotel with its European architecture my heart began to race as I gazed across the rear car park and saw the Skylon Tower with the mist rising behind it situated on the slight incline behind the hotel. I was in Niagara Falls. FORMATION OF THE GORGE AND FALLS Niagara is situated on the Niagara escarpment, which extends 725 km across Ontario from Niagara Falls to Manitoulin Island. 430 Million years ago a shallow tropical sea covered the area but when it drained the corals and sediments had been compressed turning into dolomite and left behind a shelf of rugged terrain and cliffs. Niagara Falls awesome

Advantages: breathtaking falls
Disadvantages: Clifton Hill area

Niagara Falls is one of the most awe-inspiring sights that I have ever seen. Before you can see the falls you can hear the thunder of the water cascading over the edge. We were there in June 2000 and found the place to be one of contrasts. The Niagara Parkway which runs alongside the Falls and on north to Niagara on the Lake is undoubtedly one of the nicest stretches of road that I have ever travelled along. The area immediately next to the Falls is quite scenic with well manicured gardens and floral displays but only one block west at the Clifton Hill area you have what can only be described as tourist trash- a combination of hideous neon displays advertising Ripley’s’ believe it or not’ and Madame Tussauds etc - it is totally out of sync with the raw, natural beauty of the Falls and surrounding area to the north ...

Review on Niagara Falls in the 'fall'

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful accommodation and food if you look for it
Disadvantages: long flight and Japanese tourists

strives to push the boat back down the river. Another unforgettable experience is the tour behind the falls. Who could forget Marilyn Monroe being pursued here in the film "Niagara". It is thrilling (again don the waterproof poncho first) to actually view the water from the inside. Getting tired and hungry? Plenty places for eating but two of the cheapest and best have to be the two casinos. The old and new casinos offer a buffet spread for only a few dollars (Like about $15 Can. a head) You pay only for alcoholic drinks and are tempted by an array of snow crab, sushi, roast beef, all kinds of salad and vegetables. Then just when you think you cannot eat any more - there is the dessert buffet. PHEW. After that take some cash (only what you can afford to lose) and get into the casino. In the old casino you get a cup of quarters and it ...
