When you book the trip on Expedia or any other site, don't choose a shuttle to the hotel for $50 per person as the taxi costs $13-17 one way. The trip to Old SanJuan in a taxi will cost you also around $12-15 however, there is a bus # B21 running to Old SanJuan which drops you off by the bus terminal in the port area. The bus costs 75 cents. The bus goes supposedly every 20 mis but you can wait up to an hour if you're not lucky. ...

We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de SanJuan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in.
The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view.

My wife and myself holidayed here feb 2005. On arrival to the island and traveling through the various resorts en route to the hotel you notice how dirty the island is, it made you wonder how clean the hotel complex was gonna be. We were amazed on arrival to how spottlesly clean the complex was and how friendly and helpful the staff are. We tried to unload our own luggage from the coach but was stopped by the porter who we tipped at the airport who made sure our luggage made it to our room.
The resort itself is huge with its own transport system which you can stop wherever you like!
The rooms are big light and airy and well appointed with a hairdryer, aircon unit, a well stocked mini bar(which was refilled daily and if was running low you could phone reception and get it topped up early), sat TV. The hot water was sometimes a bit ...
