...this is as near as you will get in paris to the place looking like oxford. this is a court hat was built for the then king and it is surrounded by a colonnade. it is truly ravishing. the park in the midlle is quiet and peaceful and there is a real sense of a family area there, but around the edges in the colonnades there are opera singers and other quality musicians trying ot earn a bit of extra cash. the marais are is very chic and full of good restaurants and seems to be a little world all to itself, far away from oparis, there are cute little side alleys and boutiques and it reminds one of the paris that there may have been 200 years ago.... ...This Hotel is close to the centre of Paris, and at less than £20 a night is a marvellous find. Close to many of the grands magasins, as well as hundreds of colourful individual shops, it is a perfect base from which to explore Paris. Although the hotel rooms were not the most spacious ever encountered, all were en-suite and cleaned thoroughly everyday. Covered in posters from various 'spectacles', and with a parrot in residence in the foyer, l'Hotel des Arts was truly welcoming and well worth visiting. Local restaurants - of many different nationalities - were cheap and the friendliness of this part of Paris cannot be underestimated. Although the hustle and bustle of Parisian life was at the end of the street, the enclosed nature of the road meant that noise wasn't a problem. All in all a cheap, friendly place to stay in Paris... Advantages: beautiful sceneries, plenty of stations, good quality hotels, fancy food, great attractions.
