Hi guys, I'm 30 & live with my hubby and fat cat in Coventry, although I'm from Sunny (?) Wolverhampton originally. My fave topics for reviews are holidays, hotels and travel - my all time favourite pastime, although I do diversify ocassionally! Enjoy!

I recently booked the above package for myself and my boyfriend, for 1 night’s stay in May. Not just any random 1 night's stay though - this was the night before we left a grey miserable UK for sunnier climes - Rome to be exact. We were flying from Coventry and as we had to be at the airport at the ungodly hour of 5am and parking at Coventry airport is non-existent, we decided to really push the boat our & book an overnight stay at an airport hotel with a fly/park package.
I booked using Brittannia's online booking facility (http://www.flightparks.com/Default.asp?Page=60) by following the ‘Coventry Airport’ link. The total cost of our stay, to include 1 night at the hotel, return transfers to Coventry Airport and parking at the hotel during our holiday, was £69.00. Unusually I didn't do too much research into the quality of the hotel - I mean you expect Brittannia hotels to be good quality, right?? Boy were we disappointed.
On arrival at the hotel we were checked in by the Assistant Manager. We confirmed to him the time and date of our flights and, as I was aware that a similar package was offered by this hotel in relation to Birmingham Airport, we specifically informed him that we were travelling to and from Coventry and not Birmingham. We reserved transport to arrive at Coventry one hour before the latest check-in time, as advised by the Assistant Manager.
We then went to our room where we experienced a mixture of disappointment and horror. Like the rest of the hotel, the room had obviously not been redecorated since the 70s and even the bedspread looked like it had been in use since the hotel first opened. The wallpaper was torn and the bathroom was rusty. The shower dripped all night and the whole room smelt and felt damp. As we didn't see any other guests in the hotel that evening, there appeared no reason for us being put in such a horrid room. Ordinarily we would have requested that we move rooms, particularly as the price wasn't exactly budget. Lets face it, you can get a clean and pretty modern (albeit identity free soul-less) Travellodge room for around £50, but it was late, we were aware that we had to be up early the next morning, so on the basis that it was only one night, we just put up with the room and went to bed.
On the morning of our departure my boyfriend and I went down to reception and were advised by the receptionist on duty that our transportation was waiting for us outside the hotel. We boarded the mini-bus with two other hotel guests (the only others we saw during our stay) and set off, we presumed, for Coventry.
However, twenty-five minutes later we arrived at Birmingham Airport. We asked the driver if he was aware that we were travelling from Coventry, however, he was not. We were therefore forced to return to the hotel and await a taxi, which did not arrive. Whilst waiting for the taxi I requested to speak to the duty manager but was informed by the receptionist that there was no manager on duty at this time. This in itself I find unbelievable of a hotel chain of the size and quality of Brittannia. I expressed to the receptionist my dissatisfaction at the service provided, but this was met with a flippant attitude which displayed no empathy, understanding or sense of responsibility. By 5:45am, 15 minutes before the departure gate closed, I was frantic, and it was all I could do not to lean over the counter and shake the receptionist who was still refusing to do any more than pass the buck. Eventually we were taken to the airport in the same mini-bus and, thanks to the driver's disregard for the speed limit all the way, arrived just as the check-in desk was closing.
Even aside from the terrible room, suffice to say this stressful and dramatic experience did not provide the relaxing start to our holiday which my partner and I had hoped for. I was still shaking as the plane landed in Rome.
