Chapel Farm

Advantages: a nice break
Disadvantages: British weather

I fancied going away for the weekend but didn't want to go far or spend a fortune, I didn't even want to spend £100 a night for a basic hotel so I searched for guest houses in the lake district as we don't live far from there and the countryside is lovely. I couldn't find any vacancies so I suggested a caravan to my husband, he agreed as we both think it's great for children to be outside and they love it. I search the Hoseasons website and we decided to go on Friday after school and work etc and stay until Monday as the children were off school then. We wanted a fairly basic site as we were going to take games to play at night and the netball post and maybe the swingball. After looking I came across Chapel Farm Caravan Park in Little Asby. The Hoseasons site had a caravan available for 3 nights at a cost of £165, fairly cheap ...

A beautiful chapel with lots of history

Advantages: Wonderful architecture, views and a decent cup of tea!
Disadvantages: Pricey

At the moment I am staying with Dave in Edinburgh to keep him company whilst he is currently working there. This weekend we have been out for a ride and on the way back to the house at Swanston that we are renting (review already written!) Dave decided to take me somewhere as a surprise. The place in question was Rosslyn Chapel. He knows that I love to visit churches, chapels and cathedrals in any state of repair so he was on to a winner with this place. Where is it? The address is: Rosslyn Chapel Roslin Midlothian Scotland EH25 9PU Tel: +44 (0)131 440 2159 mail@rosslynchapel.com How do you get there? To get there by car you just need to take the A701 travelling south from Edinburgh and then turn left onto the B7006 and follow the signs to Roslin and the chapel. It is very well signposted and easy to find ...

Forensic Holmes?

Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: Not sure about Everett, weak story, set in the wrong period

Sherlock Holmes is fast succumbing to his drug habit when a new case takes his interest, and, with the help of Dr Watson, he manages to pull himself together enough to work on the case. A number of girls from wealthy families are going missing, later found dead. All the girls appear to be young and innocent, yet someone obviously wants them wiped off the face of the earth. Then one young girl manages to survive the kidnap. Can she lead Holmes and Watson to the murderer? And will the latest forensic advances help them on their way? Since I was a child, I have loved Sherlock Holmes stories, whether on screen or in printed book form. I am, however, rather choosy when it comes to who plays Sherlock Holmtes. So many actors have taken on the role, only to fail miserably. My personal favourites are Jeremy Brett, who is the perfect Holmes in ...
