family run hotel. We are well situated close to Lord Sreet with its excellent assortment of shops and convenient for all the many entertainment facilities in the lovely resort of Southport. The Marina, Floral Hall Theatre are all only two minutes walk away from us.
Advantages: YOU DON'T NEED A PASSPORT. Disadvantages: LET'S JUST SAY THERE'S AN 'INTEREST' DEFICIT.
...because it is too heavily polluted.
Events ~
Every year there’s a huge horticultural event here: ‘The Southport Flower Show’, which lasts for 3days in August. Specially designed feature gardens are constructed each year by [quote] “landscape architects and designers” (presumably that means ‘gardeners’). There are six championship courses, including ‘Royal Birkdale’ which is a key venue for ‘The Open’ ... and a good place for stalking very wealthy men.
Accommodation ~
Lodgings are plentiful, and range from run-down B&Bs to 3* Hotels. And if you’re really determined to rough-it, there’s a Pontins Holiday Camp.

There is a nice quaint shopping centre based arround lord street with all the usuall shops and touristy shops. On the sea front there are lots of nice looking hotels i havnt stayed in any though so cant reccomend a good one. Ther is lots ofgreenery arround and the architecture of the area is very eyepleasing. Advantages: Something for everyone Disadvantages: None, it's great!
...worth taking. A light lunch at the Prince of Wales will set you back £25 just walking in off the street, but as part of a room deal it is a lovely treat.
Another large hotel is the Scarisbrick. This has a wonderful new health complex and also has good offers. There are lots of smaller hotels that are much cheaper. Check out the website for details and offers. Some of the smaller ones even have swimming pools.

OUTSIDE SOUTHPORT
There are some charming villages just on the outskirts. Churchtown is historical and gorgeous – it is also where the Botanic Gardens are. Birkdale is also close by – with it’s famous, world-class golf course and good variety of shops. A little further afield is the market town of Ormskirk (famous for having a church with both a tower and a steeple), a National Trust house (Rufford Old...
