A few months ago I went on holiday to Crete, and stayed in a town called Malia. We were lucky to be staying in an apartment which was very close to the town and beach.
Malia attracts lots of youngsters with plenty of nightclubs and taverna's to choose from. Although the nightlife in Malia is excellent, Malia is also suitable for families with small children. There's plenty of architecture and sites to visit during your stay. And the beach is so beautiful, you could quite easily loose track of time here. There's plenty of water sports available from the banana ride, paragliding and the big rubber rings what you sit in that the boats pull. For the less adventerous, you can just lay on a sunbed reading or sleeping.
I went in October, and found this the perfect time of year to go. It wasn't so busy, and not so hot either. The weather was just right. Although at this time things are starting to draw to a close, ie, some of the nightclubs.
If you don't want all the noise of the clubs and pubs, take a bike ride or walk into the town of Malia and look round the shops. There's plenty of souvenir shops to browse round at your leisure, coffee shops to rest in, and restaurants if you are hungry.
There's no need to walk, as there are plenty of hire shops around where you can hire anything from bicycles, moped's, cars and jeeps. Me and my friend hired a moped for 3 days. It's not law to wear a crash helmet, but I do advise wearing one, as the drivers out there are a lot more relaxed that what they are here!
All in all, it's a lovely place to visit for the whole family, and definately worth the money.
It sounds lovely! I've never been to Greece, want to now though! x

I have never been to Greece, but you make it sound ever so tempting. Great opinion - thanks Donna.

Hey, good review! I'm off to Malia at the end of April (can't cope with peak season, getting too old for all that!). I can't wait, sounds good - I'm off with a girlie friend just to spend a relaxing week in the sun :-)
