Sol Aurora, Umag, Croatia. Like Spain, Only better.

Advantages: Beautiful country, great hotel, nice food, cheaper than Spain
Disadvantages: None Really.

...couple of weeks at the Sol Aurora, Umag, in June 2007. We have been to several places around Europe, e.g. The Baleriks, Spain, Italy, but fancied something a little different. Not being a fan of flying, I usually look for places within a 3 hr flight from Leeds/Bradford, Croatia is only 2hr 20mins away, so seemed ideal. Umag itself is a very nice smallish town, with a small port, located to the north of Croatia, on the coast of the Adriatic, only ...
...prices are very reasonable. The Sol Aurora Hotel is a 4 star, situated just north of the town of Umag, almost directly on the beach, wel, I say beach, it is actually a concrete sun terrace, but there are plenty of beaches within a couple of minutes walk. The hotel vas very clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. The half board food was above average, and was distinctly better than I have had preiously in ...

Istrian idyll

Advantages: Charming, stylish, small, friendly and comfortable
Disadvantages: Motorway in the distance

Hotel San Rocco is a fabulous place to stay and the photo shows the outdoor restaurant, pool and poolside eating and sunbathing area. In the background is the main hotel. San Rocco is a small hotel with only about 7 guest rooms (sorry I can't remember exactly). It is a family run hotel on the edge of the village of Britoniglia, on the Istrian Peninsula of Croatia. Traditional village life carries on around it and we were lucky enough to witness ...
...stay. This hotel is popular with couples as it is a really quiet, romantic hideaway. The hotel consists of two traditional buildings that have been renovated to a high standard with the outdoor swimming pool (with its own integral jacuzzi at one end) being a central feature, surrounded by steamer chairs for relaxing and sunbathing, tables and chairs for eating a leisurely lunch and fig and apple trees which guests happily picked and ate the fruit ...

YHA INternational PULA

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: included Breakfast

The most spectacular hostel i have ever stayed in. located a 15 minute walk to town this hostel has its own private beach which is a short stroll from your bedroom. breakfast is very basic but the beers are cheap and the biggest and cheapest pizza restaurant is located within 5 minutes walk. they will even deliver. we spent out days in this roman croatian town wandering the old town with a beautiful roman ampitheatre, fruit and vege markets, trampsing ...
...the different little beaches. the water is cyrstal clear and although there is no sandy beaches there are plenty of private alcoves and rocks to jump from and sunbake on. there are camping facilties if you want and four - six bed dorms. not sure if they have private rooms - if they did they were booked up when we arrived. there are planty of facilities for kids but this is definately a backpackers accomodation. take a tip from me explore the beaches ...

Does it Take a Millennium to Get Served?

Advantages: best in town
Disadvantages: slow service

...where we stayed at the Hotel Milenij/Millennium and I can' wait to start writing my review. There seems to be so many things I want to mention. We booked 9 nights at this five-star hotel directly through their website, having previously found the hotel description and pictures in holiday brochures. Booking it directly was much cheaper than through UK tour operators. It was also very easy. Arrival went very smoothly. The taxi driver booked by the ...
...mention the stinginess of the hotel here - the shampoo/shower gel or writing paper were not re-stocked unless specifically requested. On the house-keeping point - the bedding was changed daily and we had duvets, not sheets and blankets which was a real bonus. The room had a wardrobe and a safe and generally looked good apart from the carpet. The carpet was very shabby and torn in places at the entrance to the bathroom. Breakfast wasn't very inspiring. ...

Best choice for quality

Advantages: Cleanliness, Location, Quality of room
Disadvantages: Lack of sandy beaches nearby, no air conditioning in bathroom

This large ***** Hotel is based in the Southern-most tip of Croatia, above the centre of the town of Cavtat. The building has 7 floors, however with the ground floor being the 4th. Note: The five stars are deemed four by British travel agents, which is more than reasonable. ROOMS: Now, I am writing this review based on the room I stayed in, and there may be differences in quality throughout the hotel, given it's size. First of all, It is highly ...
...and efficient. LOCATION: The Hotel is situated 127 steps above the centre of Cavtat (where you will be spending most time). This number seems quite innocent, but given the right (or wrong!) conditions, such as the immense heat of up to +34-38 Degrees, humidity and frequent journeys down and UP, step number 127 rivals Everest. A normal journey to the centre takes 7-11Mins. Otherwise, you can walk around the hotel. Also, the hotel is only 8Mins by ...
