The receptionist was extremely helpful and explained the lack of parking at the hotel, suggesting the secure garage option - parking available at the rear of the hotel. Very well priced at £2.50.
Regretfully that is where the pleasant experience ended as the room offered was very small and was located ... ...making equipment were sparse, room floor creaked with every step that was taken, plus the TV did not work.
Explained this to the receptionist, but she explained that no rooms were available due to the fact that they had their 'Turkey and Tinsel' night (22 Nov 2007 !!). Arrived as alone traveller, opting for the Crown Hotel at Weymouth due to its apparent convenience to the followings days meeting at Portland. The receptionist was extremely helpful and explained the lack of parking at the hotel, suggesting the secure garage option - parking available at the rear of the hotel. Very well priced at £2.50. Regretfully that is where the pleasant experience ended as the room offered was very small and was located above the Weymouth town centre main road. Tea/ coffee making equipment were sparse, room floor creaked with every step that was taken, plus the TV did not work. Explained this to the receptionist, but she explained that no rooms were available due to the fact that they had their 'Turkey and Tinsel' night (22 Nov 2007 !!). TV remained unfixed (I had sufficient work to progress with), despite my return visit to reception (Night staff address the TV/ room issues). Following morning breakfast consisted of one egg, one s/age, one slice of bacon and a tinned, plum tomato. Thus, you need to balance the fact that the tariff of £45 may be appealing however, I would not recommend this hotel - based on my experience. The few 'Tinsel & Turkey' residents that I spoke to at breakfast seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves which is reassuring to the older generation. Thank you.
