Plaza Regency Hotel in Sliema in central position

Advantages: Easy access to public transport and sea front promenade
Disadvantages: cramped and slow lifts

The Plaza Regency hotel, Sliema is situated at 251 Tower Road, or as the local street signs put it Triq it-Torri. It is seperated from its sister hotel The Plaza, by a road Triq San Frangisk. The two hotel are connected together by a bridge six floors above the street. This sounds weird but works quite well. The two hotels share a dining room which is on the sixth floor of the Plaza, and share a swimming pool which is on the roof (seventh floor) of the Plaza Regency. Both hotels have several steps to climb to get from street level to Reception and in my opinion would be awkward for someone of limited mobility. Once inside, the reception area is spacious and has arm chairs and a TV. The staff here speak good English and are helpful. Both hotels have lifts which are in my opinion both slow and cramped. However the bedroom that my wife ...

AJewel in The Crown - The Crown Hotel, Bawtry

Advantages: Great location
Disadvantages: Car Parking

A lovely, friendly hotel located in small historical market town of Bawtry I love this little down, just down the road from my parents in Doncaster (home to the famous St Leger). When I was living in the area, I often popped in to the Crown for an evening meal, or a drink with friends and have recently, on a visit back to my old stomping ground, stayed at the hotel. What to Expect A friendly welcome, good food, nice rooms everythig you would expect from a good quality hotel. The Crowns website nailed it on the head when they said " Step into the Crown and you will immediately discover a chic, idyllic retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life". It really is a pleasurable experience staying here. What to Do I was there for a wedding, so I didn't do much other than drinks lots of champagne, eat lots of food ...

Where NOT to Stay When in Cebu, Philippines

Advantages: Only a few minutes' drive to Mactan-Cebu International Airport; nice shower; friendly staff.
Disadvantages: Basically a dump; towel problem emblematic of the place, which needs a renovation badly.

If you ever plan to visit the bustling city and province of Cebu, Philippines, take note: DO NOT even consider the shamefully shabby Days Hotel Cebu for your holiday. Our travel party had expected decent accommodations in this Days Hotel, since Cebu City happens to be one of the larger and exciting cities in the Visayas region of Southern Philippines (a cluster of islands in the center of the archipelago). Well, were we ever so wrong! A Bit About Cebu. Cebu City brims with historical significance. It's the oldest Christian city in the Philippines, established by Spanish colonizer Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in 1571. (The country's oldest avenue is Colon St. in busy downtown Cebu City, named oddly after Christopher Columbus.) Decades before Legaspi's arrival, Portuguese explorer Fernando de Magallanes/Ferdinand Magellan first ...
