Situated directly opposite the Royal Liver Building, with great views of the Mersey the Crowne Plaza really is an excellent modern (1998) four star hotel.
Having never visited Liverpool before, the Crowne Plaza was an excellent choice. You are approximately ten minutes from the main city centre and five minutes from a vast array of local bistro’s and swanky restaurants and two minutes from the most popular Liverpool landmark “The Cavern”, where the Beatles played before they became famous.
Hotel Facilities
The Crowne Plaza has its own dedicated pampering facilities on the left of reception as you walk in. It is worth noting, unlike some hotels, there is no extra charge for using these facilities if you are a paying guest.
Sauna – Very good, with its panelled wooden effect it was very spacious compared to some places I have been. I particularly like this as there is nothing worse than being crammed into a small pokey room.
Steam Room – Superb, and what’s more virtually empty as most people opt for the Sauna. The steam can get a bit much after a while and I would advise people who suffer with dry eyes not to spend too long in there as it can irritate.
Jacuzzi – A little small for such a large hotel, but it was very accessible, it didn’t feel like I was trying to scale a 6ft fence to get in. You can also take in the view of the Royal Liver Building’s just across the road.
Swimming Pool – Excellent. The small pool is a decent size for a hotel and has excellent views out onto the river Mersey a very relaxing experience.
Standard of rooms – The rooms are extremely comfortable, well equipped and very clean, however after paying £190 per room per night I was a little disappointed at its size. In all fairness I have stayed in other Hotels that offer a similar room size for half the cost.
Please note the rooms are not small, but it just didn’t quite seem like value for money. The ensuite facilities are excellent and a good size.
Eating
Having eaten once at the Hotel, the food was superb; however expect to pay a hefty amount for the privilege.
Instead I would opt to leave the Hotel and take a five minute walk towards the city centre where there is a lavish array of Bistro’s, Bars and Pubs to choose from. If you like Spanish or Mexican food there are a number of Bistro’s dedicated to providing mouth watering dishes.
If you breakfast at the Crowne Plaza you’re in for a real treat. They have a huge selection of cereals, fruit (strawberries, kiwi, grapes etc) and traditional cooked breakfasts. I found the staff excellent and if you speak to them they are more than willing to prepare an alternative dish of your choice or just a plain old boiled egg!!!!
Staff
Can’t fault the staff, everyone including the maids were pleasant and approachable. Make use of the personal service provided on reception, if you are booking Theatre Tickets, Cinema Tickets or excursions. The staff running this were extremely knowledgeable and apt at negotiating a hefty discount on ticket prices. Prices
Okay take a deep breath, you can expect to pay around £250 per night per room. Obviously this will vary depending on the type of room you choose however I have an excellent piece of advice before you consider booking. The tourist information office on the Albert Dock can get you a discount of up to £80 if you book through them. We ended up paying about £190 per night.
I would also advise using this facility if you are booking any other hotel as it is much cheaper than booking directly.
Overall
I would strongly recommend Crowne Plaza, excellent staff and service, comfortable rooms, superb leisure facilities and a brilliant location, so get your credit cards out and book a romantic weekend away for your spouse, via the Crowne Plaza website
Advantages: 4 Star hotel, Situated in good location, Friendly staff, Beautiful hotel, Good hotel facilities Disadvantages: Expensive
...However the bathrooms in the Crowne Plaza are perfect they just look beautiful and posh. I had enough space to stand around; I had space to put my clothes and enough room to shave without banging into the mirror I guess you can get my point. Bed and breakfast As part of the deal that I got was evening meal and breakfast included with the rooms (We had to pay for drinks) but it was a very good deal. We went down for dinner and were greeted ... ... Overall The Crowne Plaza is a lovely hotel situated perfectly by the waterfront in Liverpool I was surprised that the hotel is only a 4 star hotel but was very impressed. The rooms are gorgeous, the staff are helpful and I really enjoyed my stay. I will recommend the hotel to you. ...

Advantages: Location in the heart of the city Disadvantages: can be expensive so make use of offers
The Crowne Plaza hotel in Liverpool is a good hotel to stay in if you want a city break at a quality hotel. The best thing about it is the location. ST. NICHOLAS PLACE, PIER HEAD LIVERPOOL, L3 1QW
The hotel is (almost) on the waterfront close to the Pier Head and a short walk to the Albert Dock. I say almost on the waterfront because there is a new office building between the hotel and the river so although "room with a river view" is a truism, ... ...etc.
Room is the standard Crowne Plaza type and includes :-

Crowne and Glory Review ofCrowne Plaza Hotel, Liverpoolby
Dustybin
Advantages: Clean, Tidy, New, Impressive rooms, Reasonable Tarriffs. Disadvantages: Can get busy if there are lots of functions, although there are separate functino rooms available.
...enough to stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, situated near the Albert Dock, right on the edge of the River Mersey. Little did I know that this was to be one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in, and I do a LOT of travelling!!!
As soon as you drive into the car park, it hits you. Not the biggest hotel in the county, it has to be said, but then again - size isn't everything...
The door was opened for me and I entered the reception area. You ... ...machines.
All in all, an outstanding hotel and well worth recommending for anyone.
If you know of someone who has had a bad visit there, I'd love to hear about it... but I doubt it.
Well Done to the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool.

Advantages: price (teletext offers), location, comfort, leisure facilities, food, friendly staff Disadvantages: mid week prices to cater for business people
...Liverpool, we stay in the Crowne Plaza, it's as simple as that. The teletext offers are marvellous and great value for money, but only cover the weekend usually. Week day bookings are brisk- business people stay here (so if you can get your employer to pay, do so!)
Anyway, my children LOVE staying here. From the moment we walk in, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who are great. The leisure facilities are superb- swimming pool, jacuzzi, ... ...with games console..Breakfast is superb, and dinner worth sampling.(French flavour)
The bedrooms are very comfortable as well, many with a waterfront view. The hotel is very convenient for the city centre if you like shopping, and close to the Albert Dock complex. Well worth a visit, whether you are with children or a couple or singleton. I would recommend that you give it a try. ...

Advantages: Great central position, next to ferries and albert dock Disadvantages: Hard to get a room, overpriced drinks
The Crowne Plaza is a truly superb hotel. Its an absolute joy to stay there, modern build complemented by historical imagery throughout. The reception is beneath a circle glass ceiling, it gives such a welcome regardless of the British weather. The rooms are what you expect from the Crowne Plaza chain, part of holiday inn. Normally two big beds, with self controlled air conditioning, ensuite marble bathroom, stacked with plenty of toiletries. All ... ...advantage of either a mersey or city view. Its wonderful to eat your breakfast watching the boats going up and down the river.
The carpark is controlled by a ticketed barrier, is well lit and has many cameras as well as a 8ft high fence, you feel happy to leave your car there.
Staff are both curteous and attentive to your needs, nothing is any trouble.
Good health facilities and an adequate in-door pool free to hotel guests.
Food and drinks are ...
