Crowne Plaza Hotel Orlando Universal, Orlando

Advantages: EXtremely comfy bed, quiet location
Disadvantages: A long way from Disney

We stayed here for a week recently on a trip to Orlando to visit Universal Studios and Sea World. We stayed in a Disney hotel later on in the holiday so we didn't mind that it was a long way from Disney. We bought it as part of a package deal including flights so I can't give a price. General The hotel itself is a high-rise but a very nice one - there are 15 stories but to get to the very top a key was needed in the lift - I think the top floors ...
...in the atrium were particularly nice as they were glass fronted - although probably not recommended if you don't like heights especially as they were quite fast. There was a drinks machine on each floor and these were very reasonably priced - a bottle of water was $1.25, the same bottle in the parks was $2.00. Disadvantages: Pool not huge. Hotel restaurant a little expensive

We stayed at this hotel with our kids, the hotel looks Great. My friend stayed in a nearby motel and seemed to think we staying at the Ritz. The bed was mega comfy, a small amount of toiletries were available in our bathroom. We also had a kettle with complimentary drink sachets which were topped up regularly by the cleaner. ...look a bit presentable. This hotel is about 20-25 minutes from Disney but only about 5 minutes from Universal Studios, and about 2 minutes from International Drive. There is a small shop on the hotel premises, and a cafe handy for little snacks. Also a restaurant which is a bit expensive so we preferred to eat out. There is a gym and a pool. Disadvantages: Its not a disney hotel (lacks Disney atmosphere).

This hotel is just great. The rooms are large and extremely well looked after. We got a free newspaper every day too free of charge. The staff were very friendly and were very helpful at pointing us in the right direction of good places to eat. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is quite high rise, but it stil maintains a cosy feeling. The views are not great but on International Drive you dont expect to get a nice view. There is a free shuttle ...
...Disney shuttle is a bit disappointing. It only goes twice in the morning at set times, around 8am or 10am and then there are only 2 pick up times which are quite late after a days trekking around Disney, at around 6pm or 10pm. We found this made the day at Disney too long and would be too much for small children.
