...There are two hotels called the CrownePlaza in Birmingham. As I found out at my peril... Ill explain later.
The first one is the CrownPlaza in the City Centre which is the one mentioned in the other review.
The one I stayed in is the one situated next to Birmingham NEC and is the one I have stayed in quite a few times.
I have to say I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel.
The most recent stay was when I booked us in before going to Prague. I had mistakenly booked the City Centre Hotel by mistake. I wanted the one by the NEC because of the Free transfers to the airport. On arrival the staff were very helpful in sorting out cancelling the reservation at the other hotel and getting us a room at their hotel. We even had a free upgrade and I dont know why!

Advantages: Location, atmosphere...It's luxury in a great city" Disadvantages: Can be hard to locate
...before ending up at the Moat House Hotel, who kindly gave Amanda directions to the CrownePlaza. Embarrassing, yes! This is not the easiest hotel to find in Cambridge's eco-friendly travel system.
We found it, though. Eventually. And we're very, very glad that we did!
We arrived, finally, in Downing Street - and located the hotel - an easy task once you know where it is! We pulled up in the front drive and handed over our keys for valet parking. £7.50 was an absolute bargain, and valet parking is always a luxury, as long as you've managed to get everything you want out of the car. We didn't, quite, - but would certainly plan it better next time!
We entered the hotel at street level. To our right was "Quinn's Bar" - Cambridge's only Irish bar, apparently. There was also a concierge desk, and an escalator that led to the first floor...

Advantages: Great Location. Excellent standard of service. Relatively good value for London. Disadvantages: No Pool. That's about it!

I booked dinner and theatre for my wife's thirtieth birthday, and needed a relatively up-market hotel in London - with a bit of “wow” factor - to overnight in. I am a frequent visitor to IC Hotel Group properties on business (these include the five star Intercontinental Hotels, the four to five star CrownePlaza, and the three to four star Holiday Inn) and am a member of their award-winning “Priority Club” loyalty scheme, so I decided to use my accumulated points to redeem a “Reward Night” and stay for free. The hotel is on Buckingham Gate, with extensive frontage featuring an attractive red and white brick façade with decorative arches, reminiscent of Florentine architecture.
GETTING TO & FROM
The hotel is in the heart of Westminster. It’s a short, three minute, walk from St James’ Park Tube...
