Could Walt Disney have done better on the Fantasia?
Advantages: Comfortable cabin and good food Disadvantages: Staff were not trained or supervised enough
...The ship was called the MSC Lirica.
I have to admit I hadn’t heard of MSC cruises but whilst cruising we noticed several MSC container ships. But after having booked I soon learned a lot more as we get at least one email a week! There are 11 cruise ships that I now know of and they cruise to Northern Europe, Mediterranean, Ocean voyages, North and South America, Caribbean and South Africa. Through one of these emails offering pay only £1 for the ... ...in their fleet.

Orkney Ferries - Not just a way of getting from A to B
Advantages: Helpful and friendly crews, clean vessels, wonderful views of the islands, excellent bacon rolls! Disadvantages: None really, they're the only way to reach some of the islands.
Ciao Review: Orkney Ferries – Not just a way of getting from A to B A lifeline service for somewhat isolated islands Many visitors to Orkney choose simply to stay on Mainland (the local name for the main island) and the ones which are linked by causeways – Burray and South Ronaldsay. However, if you want to visit some of the other islands, chances are you’re going to have to use the council-run Orkney Ferries at some stage. Although Loganair ... ...was completed in the 1980s). Orkney Ferries receive subsidies from the local council and the resulting charges are not that excessive, although the journeys have yet to benefit from the “Road Equivalent Tariff” that is being applied to Caledonian MacBrayne’s services to the Western Isles. For the tourist, Orkney Ferries offer not only a way of transporting yourself (and your car if required) to the smaller islands but also a whole series of special ...

Pentland Ferries - the cheap and cheerful way to get to Orkney
Advantages: The cheapest and quickest way to get to Orkney by car, modern vessel, wonderful scenery en route. Disadvantages: Gills Bay terminal is a bit of an eyesore at the moment and the toilets there are a mess.
Ciao Review – Pentland Ferries The cheap and cheerful way to reach Orkney by car or on foot For many years, the most popular way to reach Orkney (and prior to 2001, the only way via car) was via P&O Ferries’ service from Scrabster (a couple of miles outside Thurso) across to Stromness. Even today it remains probably the most utilised ferry, now operated by Northlink, which is owned by David MacBrayne Ltd., which also owns the more famous Caledonian ... ...July – and have used Pentland Ferries on each occasion. Pentland Ferries – a short history Orkney entrepreneur Andrew Banks set up Pentland Ferries back in 1997 with the intention of running a freight service from Invergordon (on the Cromarty Firth down near Dingwall) to Orkney, but he couldn’t drum up enough trade or attract a subsidy. He had acquired the former CalMac car ferry MV Iona, this being the first roll-on, roll-off (ro-ro) ferry ...

Crossing the Channel on the Cheap
Advantages: Inexpensive; good sleeper seats Disadvantages: Noisy; may be last-minute timetable changes
...was between Brittany Ferries and LD Lines. All I knew to begin with was that Brittany Ferries was likely to be the more expensive of the two. I visited their website first and found that there was a choice of destinations: Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo. I certainly liked the idea of St Malo. I started looking at timetables for the last week of August, but whenever I asked to proceed to the stage of having a ticket price quoted, I was told that there ... ...up and went to the LD Lines website.
Here I found that the only destination was Le Havre, and that there was just one crossing per day in each direction: a night crossing leaving Portsmouth at 11pm, arriving in Le Havre at 8 o'clock the following morning, and a return journey leaving Le Havre at 5pm and arriving back in Portsmouth at 9.30pm. This actually suited me better than any of Brittany Ferries' timetables, as it meant being away for just ...

Fantastic experiences with Fantasea Cruises
Advantages: good experience, good staff, good value Disadvantages: none
Fantasea Cruises is an Australian based cruise company in the Whitsunday's area in Queensland which can take you to see the Great Barrier Reef and to some of the main islands.
The main islands it travels to are Daydream Island and Hamilton Island, which are the nearest to the mainland point you get the cruises from, Shute Harbour. However, they also travel to Whitehaven Beach and Reefworld, and sometimes to the Long Island Resort.
Reefworld is ... ...went on two trips with Fantasea Cruises, and I enjoyed both trips, I was impressed with the Reefworld trip in particular. You have to set off early in the morning at 8am from Shute Harbour or slightly later from the other stop off places, to go on the Reefworld trip as they only make one journey there and back everyday. I really enjoyed the Reefworld day trip. The early morning start was the worst part about it but it was definitely worth it.
The ...
