Cuba... Caribbean with a Difference.
Review of Varadero (Cuba) by hero164

Advantages: Tropical Paradise, Havana, All inclusive hotels.
Disadvantages: Scary Customs.

...Germany and Holland again. Varadero and Accommodation Suitcase issues aside we arrived in Varadero, a beautiful beach resort filled with tropical palms and miles of sandy beaches on crystal blue seas. It is the same as over most of the Caribbean, fantastic if you like beaches. I personally am not much of a beach man but anyone who is will be very satisfied. Whenever travelling All Inclusive your holiday is likely to be ...
...with sugar and mint. Varadero itself did not really have a huge amount to offer, there were quite a good number of high end clothes shops (good as I had no clothes and was buying on my travel insurance). It is mainly hotels and beaches and has a large nature reserve. I guess it would be possible to have a very relaxing and filling holiday hanging around the hotel and beaches but personally I like to get out and about so on with the excursions. ... Read review

Cuba Revisited
Review of General: Cuba by Snuggy99

Advantages: Weather, luxury hotels, people are friendly
Disadvantages: Rain, not enough to do

Firstly, I just want to say how affordable it is to go to Cuba. Last year I went via Thomas Cook (flight was awful) for 2 weeks all inclusive for £900. This was the same price as going to Greece from the UK! We're going back again but this time we'll be prepared. Not only are we going closer to Havana I'm also taking more bug repellent! Cuba is the most beautiful island BUT the hotel food wasn't great and it was too hot on some days to leave our ...
...the pool and to replace it was £25. Because everything in Cuba is imported the prices are VERY high for the basics. A box of plasters was £8, shampoo was £10 and an antibiotic injection was £75. However, there are a lot of perks and it's how I imagine heaven to be :D ... Read review

Tryp Hotel Cayo Coco Cuba
Review of Hotel Tryp Cayo Coco - Cuba by Mickym

Advantages: Beach, Price, Friendly, Pools, Clean
Disadvantages: Not much to buy in shops

...and the beds comfortable. The hotel complex was clear of litter and the gardens well kept as they employ an army of local Cuban people to ensure everything is as it should be. They even controlled the mosquitos effectively. The choice of food was wide and even the most fussy of us would find plenty that they would like. Bear in mind that Cuba is a poor country, they are some of the nicest people who you will ever meet and they work hard to make ... Read review

Guardalavaca
Review of Guardalavaca (Cuba) by mandilou66

Advantages: Beautiful Beaches
Disadvantages: Mozzies and opressive

...Cuba is a beautiful country, guardalavaca is a bit out on a limb and a long long long way from havana. If you want to go to havana then stay somewhere else like caya coca then it is easier to travel. We were advised by our rep not to fly internally in Cuba as the planes are old and not particuarly safe so please travel by road only. Be prepared to be sniffed by the dogs on the way in, Cuba has a very strong policy of no drugs, which is good. Some ...
...suspiciously. If going to guardalavaca be prepared for the mozzies, they are terrible and buy the insect repellant when you get there, ours does not work!. Take sun cream with you there isnt a great deal to chose from out there and take your own cards/games etc. I can honestly say i relaxed over in Cuba, there isn't much else to do. The trips are very expensive, but then they would be as Cuba now relies on tourism. It was an experience, i'm not ... Read review
