Advantages: Near to cala Millor, Cuevas del drach Disadvantages: Not much night life, dreadful beach
I got a last minute deal last year - I got 2 weeks in a 2* hotel in , half board for only £299. However, I was very disappointed when I found out, on arrival, that our hotel was in a resort on the other side of the Island to Magaluf/Palma. It was called Portocristo
and was the home of the famous "cuvas del drach" - dragon caves, known for its superb stalagmites. Whilst the cuevas were enchantng, there was very little else to do in the resort - a few run down clubs, mediocre restaurants and a wimpy just down the road from our hotel were the only sources of entertainment if one was to avoid the temptation of spending time in the local "english pub" which boasted 2 karaoke noghts a week. The beach was also very unimpressive so we decided to take a bus to the next resort. Bus tickets were reasonable, and well worth the money - we ended up ...
Advantages: Probably the most pleasant city in South America ? Disadvantages: Road from north is very poor
from the Canari, Inca and Spanish periods of the city’s history. The Museo del Banco Central is also located here and houses a major display of religious art, Incan and Canari archaeology together with items relating to Cuenca’s history. For a trip out of the city, Ingapirca is the main Incan archaeological site in Ecuador and lies about 70km north of Cuenca. The ruins are not as grand as those to be found in Peru but are nevertheless historically important and fascinating to ...

As you can imagine pizza is on the most popular items on the menu in restaurants in Naples - well all Italian. Don't get me wrong - I love Italian food; not just pizza and pasta but all those delicious dishes like "saltimboca" or "osso bucco" or a rich Tuscan bean soup. It's just that I eat so much Italian food at home that when faced with the prospect of a whole week of Italian food I couldn't get really excited about it. Of course, the food we did have in Naples was excellent and so much better than my attempts back home but after a few days I yearned for something other than Italian food.
On the surface, the only other restaurants in town were Chinese and neither of us are big fans of Chinese food but a stroll around the Piazza Amadeo area one afternoon unearthed La Cueva - an Argentinian restaurant tucked away just ...
