It is part of the Hastings Hotel Chain (excellents chain) and is set just outside the town of Holywood (not California, Ha, Ha) in the Holywood Hills. ... Read review

It is part of the Hastings Hotel Chain (excellents chain) and is set just outside the town of Holywood (not California, Ha, Ha) in the Holywood Hills. It is a beautifully presented hotel which has mantained the oldy worldy feel while providing the most up to date facilities. At the moment it is getting a large extension bulit (May 2007) but it did not deter from my enjoyment in the slightest. It has 12 acres of beautiful grounds surrounding it and is only about 5 miles by taxi to the centre of Belfast. It has a superbly exclusive heath spa and I tried several of their ESPA Therapies while my husband availed of the privileged tee-off times at Royal Belfast Golf Club ( SUPERB COURSE ). Also I must mention the food. It was second to none in the AA rosette winning Mitre Restaurant. We also dined in the more informal Cultra Inn, situated within the estate. Another plus was the ample complimentary car parking at the hotel. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat. The staff where all lovely and friendly. This certainly is a jewel in the crown of hotels !!!!

I found the level of service exemplary , the staff always helpful and smiling, all giving you a feeling of relaxing in great comfort in surroundings ... ...the restaurent was superb - near Michelen star level and the hotel bar was welcoming with good local musicians playing nightly. The atmosphere was one of relaxing in opulance. The only downside was that the hotel was about 8 miles from Belfast - fine if you wanted to stay in the hotel relaxing in the spa and being pampered but if you wanted to get out and about in Belfast City a taxi was required. The hotel was always happy to oblige in organising ...

The Europa hotel has the dubious distinction of being the most bombed hotel in Europe. Thankfully those days have largely gone from Belfast and you should be assured of a largely undisturbed nights sleep. Pricewise it would be at the top end of the market, but for this you get a superb central location within stumbling distance of most of Belfast's top nightspots and attractions. You will always be assured of craic in any of its three bars and you will have no shortage of both local and international characters to pass a few hours chatting to.
I liked the poshness and image that goes with this hotel, only the culloden has more , but its not in belfast. so it has to be the EUROPA ...
