Curepipe is one of those little towns that you cannot miss while in Mauritius. Very representative of the mauritian's blend of Creole and Asian lifestyle. Curepipe is most known to visitors for the ship models shops where the biggest can cost up to £2000 and the smallest a mere £20. the streets are thronged with Dholl Puri sellers-the no 1 fast food[highly nutritious though], kind of crepe filled with a curry, tomato chutney and other little goodies.
Curepipe is also the home town to the famous dormant[not dead] volcano Le Trou aux Cerfs. A 10 minutes' visit.
And check out the Floreal Square area, fantastic shopping opportunity for all cashmere and diamond lovers.
cab cost around £10 and bargaining can very be useful.
