I am sure that you have all heard about how hard working the Japanese people are, family orientated, honorable, kind, company oriented, crowded lands, high school hell etc. Well, when the sun goes down there is another side of Japan that wakes up, the sleazy male dominated entertainment industry, such as a strip club.
Strip clubs are all the same around the world you may think, but not in Japan from my own personal experience. The Japanese are renowned for doing their work to the best of their ability and throw themselves, body and soul into it, the strip club industry is much the same.
In Tokyo you can pay 6000 yen to enter such establishments and 3000 yen in the countryside. Most of them are quite small and dirty - which is quite unusual in Japan, where cleanliness is next to the Budda or yen. The Japanese lady will be on stage for a twenty to thirty minute routine and a smile will only be matched by her enthusiasm. They take a pride in their job as they seductively peel off their clothes in time with the music. Depending on the age and professional status of the stripper she will invite the audience to touch certain parts of her body. This is the first time I have ever witnessed this in a strip club and I have carried out extensive research in the four corners of the world to write this article.
As people, the Japanese, are very clean and before anyone touches their body, the stripper will produce a towel or sanitized tissue to wipe the customers hands so as not to get dirt on their bodies. A Polaroid camera is on hand for those who wish to have a souvenir of their favorite stripper - usually any photograph is acceptable, as long as its not the face.! In Tokyo they charge 1000 yen for one photo and in the countryside 1000 yen for two photos. A various assortment of toys and marital aids can be used in the show.
Foreign artists are sometimes included, more often than not from South America e.g. Columbia, Brazil etc. Why they came to work in Japan is their own business, but once here, they are carefully controlled by their unsavory minders who have their small pinkie missing.
After they disrobe in a matter which befits my mother and a smile which is an unheard in their language, they occasionally invite an audience member up on to the stage to participate in the show. There is no shortage of volunteers with a game of `rock, scissors, paper` to decide the lucky winner, who hops up on stage.
The volunteer is required to strip down to his standard issue white shorts and sit and wait with his back to the audience. The stripper appears and allows him to touch her body and tease him, this usually last for a three minute song. It must seem an eternality for the victim! Finally the man is able to carry out his natural urge, - only after he has been wiped with a sanitized towel and the appropriate contraception has been placed on him. After his performance there is usually a loud round of applause and the man goes back to his seat and the shows carries on.
In these kind of clubs there are usually no snacks, no bars or waiters, but a lone vending machine selling beers and soft drinks. During the time the strippers are not on stage then there are various pornographic movies to be watched.
Finally the best memory I had of one of these places was in Tokyo - whenever the stripper swing open her legs, the whole audience moved their heads in unison to have a look.
