I had the pleasure of going to Cyprus last year for my elder sisters wedding (3rd). 1st being in a church the traditional way 2nd being at Gretna Green...not so tradtional 3rd biting the bullet and jeting off to Cyprus anyway
My Niece who is a travel agent took control of booking the flights which was great, but I also was monitoring the flight prices on the Cyprus Airways website, which was very quick and easy to use. We managed to get quite a good price thanks for niecy doing nothing for days but trying to find us the cheapest flight. so rest assured this was the cheapest way to get to Cyprus last September.
The tickets arrived a little later than i would have liked, but they were here before the holiday.
At Heathrow check in was fine,we managed to find the desk ok,collect luggage labels etc etc The Lady behind the desk was also the same lady who appeared in airline.
On through to boarding, thanks to me ( I had a small child in pushchair) and also as there were a few of us(6) we were allowed to be fast tracked, through check in.
This was a massive bonus to us as we basically got to the front of the queue along with wheel chair passengers.
The disadvantage with this was we had to board first ,as it was a plus to my fellow family,I then had to have an 18 month old on my lap for an extra 45 minutes.
**THE FLIGHT** The aeroplane was clean, modern and what I would expect. The staff were pleasant and as helpful as they could be.
The flight to Cyprus was 4 hr 45 mins. My 18month old was a nightmare,we were seated in the middle seats. when our meals were brought which as i was informed piping hot,I was unable to eat mine as William wouldnt sit with anyone else, the steward popped my meal down on the half opened lap tray, walked away I had to call her back. " could she possibly bring it back when everyone else had eaten as I cant eat with a toddler on my lap" that was the last I saw of my meal. so when he eventually slept i munched my way through crisps, choclate etc etc managed a slurp of coffee...
considering it was quite a longish flight( not longhaul by anymeans) everything seemed to be rushed (just like going to spain) giving out meals clearing away drinks duty free
**THE EXPERIENCE**
Not so good things
I hated the journey but that was more about my experience with a small child. I found the leg room claustrophobic.I couldnt even put the laptray down fully with a toddler on my knee.
Good things (or maybe not so good)
There was a choice of good movies and programmes for all age groups. Each seat had its own tv monitor. There was a tv monitor at the front of the plane plotting our progress(not good when you just want to get there).
My advice is Go with Cyprus airways as there is nothing really wrong with them. Don't take children as they are a pain in the bxx If you have to take children pay for them to have a seat! (I did think about this, but by the time i did so, the prices where just too high for me)
AND Go to Cyprus its lovely
hope this has given a slight insight into Cyprus airways, from a not so seasoned traveller...

Review of Cyprus Airways
Advantages: Spacious Seating, Efficient handling (i.e very little to no delays, and baggage handling was handled very well) Disadvantages: Very poor service, Bland and un-intersting food (although edible), Clumsy, rude, and unhelpful unattentive staff

Review of Cyprus Airways
Advantages: Beuatiful Scenery, Very friendly People, Cheap Living (Alcohol, Food, Cigarettes - if applicable), Packed full of activities (especially for trekkers and the adventerous holiday-er), If look hard (-and in unusual places, will find good cheap accomodation) Disadvantages: Not much to do in terms of clublife (unless travel to the nearest biggest city of Paphos), Can be very hot during summer months (although not as much as Dubai for example)
