Fancy skiing in the Med? You can here.
Advantages: Beautiful scenery, warm climate, nice beaches Disadvantages: Not suitable for children, local drivers are a little 'manic'
Cyprus is one of my favourite holiday destinations. Golden sandy beaches, clear blue sea, warm relaxing climate and snow. SNOW? Yes snow! I will explain about the white stuff (no, I don't mean the British tourists) later in the review, but meanwhile I would like to share with you the reasons why I find this beautiful island such a great place to visit. *** Firstly, a little background information on Cyprus ***
The island of Cyprus is situated in ... ...Sicily and Sardinia. Without going into too much laborious information on the history of the island, very briefly, Cyprus has been governed under two separate rules since the Turkish invasion of the island in 1974 - Northern Cyprus is currently under Turkish occupation and Southern Cyprus is currently under Greek occupation. There have been numerous attempts at a reconciliation between the Turks and the Greeks in order to make the island 'whole' ...

A gem at the verge of destruction
Advantages: Very friendly locals, great sightseeing and unspoilt beaches Disadvantages: Lots of developing going on, a bit complicated to get there
...stay in a hotel near Famagusta and right next to the ruins of the ancient town Salamis. A few weeks later it was time to pack my bags - little did I know that I would soon be packing much more, as I moved to Northern Cyprus less then a year from then on.
The journey wasn't quite as straightforward, as it would have been to the recognized official Cyprus and was only the first hindsight that this part of the world indeed is still very affected from ... ...The journey from Ercan to Famagusta takes about 40 minutes if being fetched by a hotel-owned bus or self-drive. If taken in a Taxi could be much less, thanks to the ruthless driving methods of the locals.
The rest of my first holiday there is rather insignificant, as I really came to know the area around Famagusta while living there for 3 1/2 years. A bit of the history of Famagusta and Cyprus : With its location, being just 44 km away from Turkey, ...

Astonishing, Amazing, Ayia Napa!!
Advantages: Brilliant Nightlife with so much to do, Great beaches and Fantastic activities!! Disadvantages: Bars very crowded taking a while to get a drink sometimes!!
...just last year, the almighty Ayia Napa! Sometimes its not where you go but who you're with on holiday that makes all the difference. As you probably know the Gran Canaries and Turkey (Marmaris) aren't known as the best places around for nightlife and partying though that's not to say they aren't good as Turkey is always a hit all year round and maybe soon it could be competing for the party capital status (long while in the waiting of course!) but ... ...from people directed us to Ayia Napa, which we had a lot of great feedback on from forums and club sites in the destination etc. We went to the travel agents and booked our flights and apartments, self catering for 2 weeks of sun, sea, and pure partying to Tsokkos Village apartments, Ayia Napa for £480 which i thought was really reasonable for June the 25th onwards, with four lads sharing a 2 bedroom apartment. When we arrived in Ayia Napa the heat ...

The New Shopping Centre in Nicosia
Advantages: multiplex cinema Disadvantages: none
...visit the shopping mall of Nicosia when in Cyprus. There are other shopping areas in Nicosia that are worth visiting too. You can make it a good day out by even going to see a film and having a meal out. Whatever you there for, it is a worth while visit to see what is on offer. ...
